In "Knife," Trax explores the complicated emotions that arise from a toxic relationship. The lyrics speak to a love that is painful and damaging, comparing it to a shining monster that cuts through flesh with a sharp knife. The opening lines set the tone for the song, with Trax singing about how love has become their entire world, even though it brings nothing but pain.
The second verse shifts the perspective to a specific scene, where Trax finds themselves locked in a room with no escape. The imagery of being tied up in despair speaks to the feeling of being trapped in a relationship that is suffocating and unhealthy. The chorus is repeated throughout, emphasizing the theme of toxic love and the pain that comes with it.
The final lines are particularly poignant, as Trax sings about an angel with broken wings. It's unclear whether the knife in question is the one that broke the angel's wings or if it was a separate incident, but the connection between love, pain, and protection is made clear. The knife can both hurt and protect, depending on how it's used, much like love.
