Tremonti's debut album, All I Was, was released in July 2012. The first single of that album You Waste Your Time reached the iTunes rock top-10 in multiple countries. A second single Wish You Well was released in January 2013.
Additionally, Mark Tremonti redirects here. This is the name for Tremonti's swing projects. In 2022 he released an album where he covered various Frank Sinatra songs (with the original Sinatra band) in aid of Down Syndrome charities. Following this, he released a Christmas album in October 2023, which continues in the same vein, covering classic Christmas songs, alongside an original track, "Christmas Morning".
So You're Afraid

Here the blind can truly see
Oh, the tide has finally turned
Now, the walls they fall on me
Now they fall on me
So you're afraid, said it's a long way down
With everything said, you were hurting
Now all the time's spent
Oh, the moment's come and gone
Left with what you've come to be
But now your hope is all but lost
The years they've all been such a waste
It's all been such a waste
So you're afraid, said it's a long way down
With everything said, you were hurting
But you're much better now
Now all the time's spent
So you're afraid, said it's a long way down
With everything said, you were hurting
But you're much better now
So you're afraid, said how it's all erased
With everything fading
I know that there's a much better way
The lyrics to Tremonti's song "So You're Afraid" capture a sense of hopelessness and fear that is palpable. The opening lines, "When the light is finally gone / Here the blind can truly see," seem to suggest that being engulfed by darkness may bring a greater sense of clarity and understanding. The tide turning and the walls falling down on the singer evoke a sense of overwhelming pressure and despair, perhaps symbolic of a life that is falling apart.
In the chorus, the singer addresses someone who is afraid, someone who sees a long way down and has been hurt. The repetition of this line seems to emphasize the singer's concern for the person, and the fact that they might be in imminent danger. However, there is also a note of optimism in the lyrics, as the singer reminds them that they are much better now. The line "Now all the time's spent" could suggest that there is no more time for hesitation or fear - it is time to act and make a change.
The second verse seems to focus more on the singer's own experiences, with lines like "Left with what you've come to be / But now your hope is all but lost." This could be interpreted as a message to the first-person speaker, who is grappling with the same sense of futility and regret. However, the repeated refrain of "So you're afraid" suggests that the two are intertwined, that the singer's own experiences have given them insight into the struggles of others. The final line, "I know that there's a much better way," is a poignant reminder that no matter how bleak things may seem, there is always a glimmer of hope to be found.

When the light is finally gone
When the good times are over
Here the blind can truly see
Now everything is clear
Oh, the tide has finally turned
Finally, things are going in my favour
Now, the walls they fall on me
Now, everything is collapsing around me
So you're afraid, said it's a long way down
You're scared of the consequences of your actions
With everything said, you were hurting
You were in pain and expressed it
But you're much better now
But you're in a better place now
Now all the time's spent
Now it's too late
Oh, the moment's come and gone
The opportunity has passed
Left with what you've come to be
Left with the person you've become
But now your hope is all but lost
You've lost all hope
The years they've all been such a waste
All these years have been useless
It's all been such a waste
It's all been for nothing
So you're afraid, said how it's all erased
You're scared that everything will be lost
With everything fading
As everything disappears
I know that there's a much better way
I know that there's a better solution
