Aphrodite
Tresor Beatenberg Lyrics

I know you got a hundred lovers, or maybe more
I know that you could do without me
I know you're gonna live forever, but look at me
I am dissolving like the foam on the sea

So babe, what's a little bit of your time?
With a watch around my wrist, I'm callin' out for you to be mine
Tell me are you there when I call?
Tell me are you listenin' at all?
I just wanna know you can hear me
Your cool silence of stone
Moving all the weight of my bones
To whatever music you give me

Latching on to you with my life, pull me through
You're such a treasure to discover
You came in just like a raging sea, jealous and proud
Hold me deep in with your waves

And I can barely breathe when you're so unkind
Oh, I can't believe you're just an image in my mind

Tell me are you there when I call?
Tell me are you listenin' at all?
I just wanna know you can hear me
Your cool silence of stone
Moving all the weight of my bones
To whatever music you give me

I'm by the waterโ€™s drowsy blaze
With a towel around my waist
Seagull's shadow, tern of the tide
Mind lustful, body chaste

Tell me are you there when I call?
Tell me are you listenin' at all?
I just wanna know you can hear me
Your cool silence of stone
Moving all the weight of my bones
To whatever music you give me

Tell me are you there when I call?
Tell me are you listenin' at all?
I just wanna know you can hear me
Your cool silence of stone
Moving all the weight of my bones
To whatever music you give me

You're the brightest planet
You're a pomegranate
With a heart of granite
Like my girlfriend Janet

You're the brightest planet
You're a pomegranate

With a heart of granite
Like my girlfriend Janet (Janet)

Overall Meaning

In Tresor Beatenberg's song "Aphrodite," the lyrics express a sense of longing and desire for a love interest that seems unattainable. The song acknowledges the fact that the object of his affection has many lovers, and although he knows he may not be a priority, he still yearns for her attention. The lyrics say, "I know you're gonna live forever, but look at me. I am dissolving like the foam on the sea." Here, he is acknowledging that he feels insignificant in comparison to her, and he fears being forgotten.

Despite this, the singer still pleads for her attention, asking if she is there and listening when he calls out to her. He wants to know that she hears him even if she seems distant or unresponsive. The lyrics reflect his feelings of helplessness and vulnerability in the face of love that may be unrequited or never fully reciprocated. The final lines of the song introduce a more lighthearted element to the lyrics with the inclusion of rhyming words, adding a playful touch to the despondent tone of the rest of the song.

The Cape town sound and slight Congolese rhythm is such a beautiful combination โค๏ธ

There's a park in Amsterdam, it's called the Sarphatipark. It is located near the Albert Cuyp Market, one of the most crowded places in the city. However, the park is just an oasis of ease, of beauty, serenity and I could always drain myself in the silence of it all. I could sit there for hours with nothing but a good novel, waiting for time to pass me by, sunshine in my mind as the trees reflected in the water and speckled my skin. After I visited the Park, I would always walk out to the Albert Cuyp Market where the city would ever so delightfully roar. And this song is just that - my oasis of ease, serenity, the quiet in my mind when all else screams. Thank you, Beatenberg & Tresor.
