After their 1999 debut Anchor, the band released Different Stars in 2002. It caught the attention of Cocteau Twins bassist Simon Raymonde, who signed the band to his record label Bella Union, and re-released it with a new tracklisting. The band moved to Seattle to make their third album, 2006's Having. After the EPs Noble House (2007) and The Natural Order of Things (2009), the band entered a period of silence and ultimately disbanded owing to tensions between Williams and Brown. They reunited in 2020 to release the single "Winterstorms".

Intro
Trespassers William Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
As an instrumental piece, "Intro" by Trespassers William relies primarily on the power of its music to convey meaning and evoke emotion. The opening notes set a melancholy tone, with a simple, repetitive melody that serves as a canvas for the song's many layers. The music builds slowly, adding complexity and depth with each passing second, as if inviting the listener on a journey through the innermost workings of the composer's mind.
One possible interpretation of "Intro" is that it represents the state of mind of someone who is struggling with a heavy burden. The repetitive nature of the melody suggests a sense of being stuck, unable to move forward or find relief from whatever is weighing them down. The building layers of sound may represent the gradual process of breaking free from this stasis, of finding a way to move forward and cope with the challenges they face. Alternatively, the piece may be more abstract, simply inviting the listener to lose themselves in the beauty of its haunting melody and intricate arrangements.
