His father was a drummer and a musician. For his 15th or 16th birthday, his father got him some time in his friend's recording studio. He made his first record, which was mostly sold to his friends and family. At Idyllwild School for the Arts, an international boarding school east of Los Angeles, he studied classical guitar. In his senior year of high school, he signed a record deal with Geffen Records. After graduation, he moved to LA and began working with producers such as John Alagia (John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Dave Matthews) and The Laboriel Brothers (Sting, Paul Mccartney). Other than an EP, none of the recordings he made with Geffen ever came out. He was dropped from the label in 2008.
Subsequently, he toured and played with acts such as Steel Pulse, The Wailers, Matisyahu, Stevie Nicks, Ben Harper, Colbie Caillat, Los Lobos, Ziggy Marley, Rusted Root, and many others.
His album, KALA, written in Hawaii and recorded in Los Angeles, was released on August 21, 2015. It debuted at No. 2 on the iTunes singer-songwriter chart.[1]
Released on June 1st, 2018, The Fruitful Darkness was Hall's first completely independent release.

Trevor Hall Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The wick runs out and then love takes its turn
On fallen angels and broken sounds, we will last past the final round
It took a while for you to find me (find me)
But I was hiding in the lime tree (lime tree)
Above the city in the rain cloud (rain cloud)
I poked a hole and watched it drain out
And parallel to the city streets (ugh)
Are broken crowns beneath our feet
But as we walk across the diamonds (diamonds)
We know that love is always shining (shining)
So save me love, save me all the time
I'll wash you down with a simple sip of wine
Toast my glass to all my loved ones
To let them know that the stars, well they still shine
It took a while for you to find me (find me)
But I was hiding in the lime tree (lime tree)
Above the city in the rain cloud (rain cloud)
I poked a hole and watched it drain out (drain out)
It took a while for you to find me (find me)
But I was hinding in the lime tree (lime tree)
Above the city in the rain cloud (rain cloud)
I poked a hole and watched it drain out (drain out)
It took a while for you to find me (find me)
But I was hiding in the lime tree (lime tree)
'Bove the city in the rain cloud (rain cloud)
I poked a hole and watched it drain out (drain out)
Took a while for you to find me (find me)
I was hiding in the, well I was hiding in the
Above the city in the rain cloud (rain cloud)
I poked a hole and watched it drain out (drain out)
Took a while for you to find me (find me, find me, find me, find me)
Ooh oh yeah yeah yeah (rain cloud, drain out)
Well I was hiding in the, I was hiding in the lime tree, lime tree, lime tree, lime tree
Took a while for you to find me (find me)
Ooh yeah
It took a while for you to find me (find me)
I spark a match, and watch the candle burn
The wick runs out and then love takes it's turn
On fallen angels and broken sounds, we will last past the final round
The Lime Tree is a song by American musician Trevor Hall, released on his 2009 album 'Trevor Hall'. The song is striking with its poetic lyrics and unique sound, blending folk and reggae influences with a raw, soulful quality. The song is a reflection on the search for love and the journey to find oneself, using nature as a metaphor for the human condition.
The song begins with Hall sparking a match and watching a candle burn, symbolizing the fleeting nature of love and life. As the wick runs out, love takes its turn, and there is a sense of hope that love will endure beyond life's transient moments. The use of fallen angels and broken sounds suggests that love can arise even from difficult or broken circumstances, and that love has the power to transcend pain and suffering. The lime tree itself becomes a symbol of hiding and seeking, representing both the elusiveness and the beauty of love.
The city, rain cloud, and diamonds are all images presented throughout the song, which could be interpreted as representing the different stages and emotions of life's journey. Ultimately, there is a sense of optimism and hope in the song, as Hall sings of the stars that still shine, and the possibility of finding love even amidst life's challenges.
Overall, The Lime Tree is a beautifully written and introspective song that conveys vivid imagery and moving themes of love, life, and the search for meaning.
