Voted one of the most dramatic pieces of music of the century.. Fairly certain the violin soloist is Miguel Borrego, (Spains top concertmaster). He turned 'Professional' at age fourteen. He plays a $400,000, 1710 Carlo Tononi violin. And the lovely lady next to him is Yulia Iglinova. Also a worlds top concertmaster. She is probably the only one on that floor who has played at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
Miguel Borrego does a reasonable job with the "5 Note rolls" - but, as a Concert Master, its probably the first time he has ever seen '5 Note rolls'. Amazing.

I cry everytime I hear this song. This movie and song have a special meaning to me. As a child my family and I used to do reenactments of the French and Indian and Revolutionary War and Last of the Mohicans came out in the movies right in the midst of all that. It just brings me back to one of the best times in my life

I've always liked this song since repeatedly watching The Hot Violinist playing it at Celtic Faires until I recently found this video on YouTube. Now I'm in love with it, I almost get chills hearing the main chorus and as a violinist I love seeing all the violinists playing together in perfect rhythm. I only saw the movie back in '92 and only remember it's cast, that he ran A LOT with his long rifle and, of course, the scene that I've copied in a way many times over my 40 yr. marriage to my wife, the scene in the cave in which he tells Cora that he'll find her. No matter how far they go, how long it takes HE WILL FIND HER! Then yesterday I purchased the movie and streamed it. When the main title came on with this orchestrated theme score I literally had chills, I LOVED IT. Hearing the music all the way through the movie made the movie so much more enjoyable than my initial viewing, which I have to admit I found boring. Now I believe it's one of my top 8 movies, which says so much. Thank you for reading and enjoy the awesome music .
Post Script: Is it me or is the violinist, seated just to the left of the solo violinist, strikingly beautiful! Perfect skin, pretty face and wins a little of my heart that she plays the violin and as a professional, so much better than I could ever dream of playing.

My 5x grandfather was one of the frontier militiamen mobilized to Ft. Edward to attempt the relief of Ft. William Henry. While the movie took liberties with Fenimore Coopers story—watching Mann’s rendering finally felt that I was seeing through his eyes.

Great. My most favourite soundtrack. I close my eyes and I feel I can see DDL running right in front of me, and a beautiful Madeleine Stowe "I will find you, no matter how long it takes". And the woman sitting after the man who starts on violin individually, she's AMAZING. The calmness on her face, Beautiful.

There are a few film musics that are greater than the movie itself and overshadow the movie. "The last of the Mohicans" is definitely the best sample to this.

I think that we all carry the memories of our ancestors. When we hear these chords we are transported back to our old times and other lives - where we were happy or sad. Not many composers can do this to us.
