Songz was born Tremaine Aldon Neverson on November 28, 1984, in Petersburg, Virginia. Raised a military brat, he recognized his vocal abilities at the age of 14. Reluctant to sing, he began performing with encouragement by friends and family. Record producer Troy Taylor discovered Songz during a talent show, which led him to a record contract with Atlantic Records. After graduating from high school, Songz moved to New Jersey to begin his music career.
2004β2006: I Gotta Make It

Oh, Oh, Oh, Sooonnnggg, Oh

(Chorus)
Shawty brand new (brand new) fresh out the box (fresh out the box)

In Trey Songz's song "Brand New," the singer is reminiscing about a woman he met in a club. The woman is described as "brand new" and "fresh out the box," meaning she is young, new to the scene, and has a lot of potential. The singer is trying to impress her with his smooth, calculated moves and wants her to leave with him. The woman initially rebuffs his advances, claiming that she is not looking for a one-night-stand. However, the singer insists that spending a night with him will be different, implying that they have a deep connection that she's never experienced before.
The lyrics suggest that the singer is a confident, charming man who knows how to get what he wants. He uses chess as a metaphor for his approach to women, implying that he is calculating and strategic. Despite the woman's initial resistance, the singer is confident that he can win her over with his charm and get her to leave with him. Overall, the song is about the excitement of meeting someone new and the possibility of a passionate, romantic encounter.
