Nevermind
Tribe Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Anna you saw my sorry eyes
Nevermind. you can't talk to her
Nevermind. you can't stop stop her
Better put on your special dress
Better throw kisses to the rest
Maybe your famous chatter will
Nevermind. you can't talk to her
Nevermind. you can't stop stop her
Will stars come and wink for you at night,
When all the world's in love with you Anna?
Better sit down and rest a while
Better paste on that on that pretty smile
And if that pretty smile won't stay
Powder and lipstick save the day
Nevermind. you can't stop stop her
Nevermind. you can't stop stop her
When all the world's in love with you Anna
Will stars come and wink for you at night?
In the song "Nevermind" by Tribe, the lyrics describe a situation where the singer, most likely male, is seeking the attention of a girl named Anna. The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "Nevermind. you can't talk to her, Nevermind. you can't stop stop her" which suggest some frustration and disappointment at not being able to communicate with Anna or prevent her from doing something the singer may not approve of. The rest of the song describes the things that Anna can do to attract attention or impress others, such as wearing a special dress, throwing kisses, or engaging in famous chatter. The singer seems to imply that Anna's looks and charm are what make people love her, but he also suggests that she can rely on makeup and hairstyling to keep up appearances.
The lyrics of "Nevermind" may be interpreted in different ways, but one possible interpretation is that the song is a commentary on the shallow nature of contemporary social interactions. The singer seems to be critical of the attention given to appearances and fame over substance and genuine connection. The repetition of the phrase "Nevermind" may also reflect a sense of resignation or defeat in the face of social pressure and expectations.
