The quartet formed and began touring around the area in 1991. They began recording soon after and a local radio station began giving their song "Lost and Found" some air time. Dragon Street Records released Tripping Daisy's debut album Bill, a straight-ahead grunge-pop album except being characterized by overly processed vocals a la neo-psychedelia and a few very interesting transitions. All subsequent albums were released by Island Records; the album Bill was also re-released by Island. I Am an Elastic Firecracker lightened up on the vocal processors except when needed for effect. The arrangements were taken to a much more advanced level on this album, but fade in comparison to the improvements on their magnum opus Jesus Hits Like the Atom Bomb. Tim DeLaughter really found his niche as a vocalist and a songwriter on this album. Though minimalistic in some respects, the album is characterized by an interesting fragmentary songwriting style, where a song can go from one vignette to a completely different other, and still achieve a seamless quality. The production qualities of Eric Drew Feldman and the band are a marvel, as is the instrumentation and glorious harmonies.
Wes Berggren was found dead in his apartment on October 27, 1999, due to an overdose. With the death of Berggren the band canceled its tours and stopped recording, officially disbanding on December 14, 1999. Their final self-titled album was released posthumously with Berggren's father Don playing a Fender Rhodes on the unfinished
"Soothing Jubilee". Their eponymous album was a warm symphonic affair with more beautiful instrumentation and playful lyrics, which rounded up this wonderful rock group by including a new version of 'One Through Four', a song originally featured on 'Bill', and the re-recorded edition showed the progress they had made in 6 years.

Tripping Daisy Lyrics

What makes him go way off where the fights are gagging still?
Take what you can today
Left the brown dog burning He's burning
If you have the time you can come and save us still
All you do is try it
Go inside the whore and buy it
If you think that you will like it
Bang!
You play with all my strengths
You're always a whispering
Why you want to watch me
Why you want to wipe out
Why you want to watch me
Why you want to wipe out
You play with all my strings
Now it's time to go back where you started
What makes a man go home in the nights of pleasure with leather?
Life ticks around the clock like a turban choking your head!
I, I will stand so small like a rodent eating, I'm teething
If I can make it through there will be my house in full force
All you do is try it
Go inside the whore and buy it
If you think that you will like it
I'll be here to let you stay
Bang!
You play with all my strengths
You're always a whispering
Why you want to watch me
Why you want to wipe out
Why you want to watch me
Why you want to wipe out
You play with all my strings
Now it's time to go back where you started
You play with all my strings
You're always a whispering
Why you want to watch me
Why you want to wipe out
Why you want to watch me
Why you want to wipe out!
The lyrics of "Bang" by Tripping Daisy appear to be about the destructive and addictive nature of pleasure-seeking and self-indulgence. The opening lines, "What makes a man feel small? Is it points of pleasure in leather?" suggest a search for pleasure or gratification that is ultimately unfulfilling and unsatisfying, leaving one feeling small or insignificant. The image of a "brown dog burning" also suggests a sense of destruction or loss.
The chorus, "Bang!", seems to represent the explosive and fleeting nature of pleasure, while the lyrics "Go inside the whore and buy it, if you think you will like it" suggest a willingness to indulge in risky behavior in pursuit of pleasure. The lines "Why you want to watch me, why you want to wipe out" seem to suggest a sense of compulsion or obsession with self-destructive behavior.
Towards the end of the song, there is a shift towards a more reflective and introspective tone. The lines "What makes a man go home in the nights of pleasure with leather? Life ticks around the clock like a turban choking your head!" suggest a sense of suffocation or entrapment. The final lines, "You play with all my strings, now it's time to go back where you started", indicate a desire to return to a sense of simplicity or a more grounded way of living.
Overall, "Bang" seems to be a cautionary tale about the dangers of indulging in pleasure-seeking behaviors, and the ultimately unfulfilling nature of these pursuits.
