In 1999, Lady Morte began work on a solo project called Trobar de Morte. The project, involving vocals and keyboards, was principally inspired by the European Middle Ages. Some years later, in 2002, Lady Morte joined together with two companions, Sathorys Elenorth and Lady Nott (members of Sathorys), in order to work on a project that was similar in theme but put Trobar de Morte on hold. The union of the two groups, Trobar de Morte and Sathorys, became Ordo Funebris. When Ordo Funebris disbanded one year later, in September 2003, Lady Morte resumed her work creating music under the name Trobar de Morte, picking up her initial project from where it she had left it the year before.
She wanted a band that did not rely solely upon one instrument - the keyboard - and thought that an acoustic guitar would bring much more beauty to the music. Thus, she invited “Lenna” to play along with her, charging him with creating guitar scores. But Lady Morte felt that something was still missing... something that would give more force and tenacity to the band, something that would forcefully beat through the music like a heart... finally she knew what was needed: percussion! So “Taedium” was invited to join the group, becoming the lord of the drums. A new band was created, a band where the world of dreams is ruler, where fairies exist, and where beautiful, deep forests prompt a return to an imagined medieval era. There, where the witches dance around the bonfire and share their desires with the night and the stars, where the sea whispers the secret name of the wind, and the moon lulls us to sleep with its sweet lullaby... the enchanting surroundings breathe life into Trobar de Morte.

No Return
Trobar de Morte Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Across the wind
Across my mind in this trip beyond time
All through the night
Throughout the winter
Crossing the sun and this moonless land
Only to find the ecchoes of dead voices
The soul begins to be prepared
To fight again in the battle
Journey of no return
Journey of no return
The lyrics of Trobar de Morte's song No Return convey a sense of timelessness and a journey into the unknown. The imagery begins with the stars and the wind, creating a sense of vastness and infinite possibility. This imagery gives the sense that the journey is a difficult one, one that goes beyond the limits of time and space. The lyrics then build on this sense of journey, taking the listener through the night and winter, crossing the sun and the moonless land. Throughout the journey, the soul is preparing to fight again in battle, evoking the idea of a hero's journey. The journey is one of no return, yet it is one that is necessary for the soul's growth and transformation.
One interesting fact about Trobar de Morte's song No Return is that it is a fusion of different musical styles, incorporating elements of medieval, folk, and world music into a unique sound. The band is known for their use of traditional instruments such as the hurdy-gurdy, dulcimer, and bodhran, which create a distinctive sound that blends seamlessly with modern instrumentation.
Another interesting fact about the song is its use in popular culture, particularly in the film industry. The song has been featured in a number of films and TV shows, including the ABC series Once Upon a Time, the British horror film Storage 24, and the video game Dragon Age II.
The song's lyrics are in Spanish, which adds to the sense of mystery and otherworldliness. The lyrics are also available in an English translation, which allows non-Spanish-speaking listeners to understand the song's meaning.
The chord progression of No Return is based on a minor key, creating a sense of darkness and foreboding. While the exact chords are not known, they likely follow a similar pattern to other songs in the same genre, incorporating minor chords and arpeggios.
Trobar de Morte's No Return is a haunting and mysterious song that explores themes of transformation, journey, and the power of the soul. Its unique blend of traditional and modern instrumentation and its use in popular culture make it a timeless classic that continues to resonate with audiences around the world.
