Colors
Trocadero Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Cyan is, the sparkle in the sky
Yellow sun, reflected in your eye
Red flows through, the passion in your art
Cobalt blue, the wisdom in your heart

Issho no toki wa
iro nante kankei nai
issho no toki wa
hachi-bitto de juubun
Corazon feathers
Do se no naka otogu
When we're together
subete wa bokura no mono

Dark is for, the killer that's inside
Light surrounds, the goodness that you hide
Purple hearts, are tugging at our sleeve
We stole fire, now there's nothing left to thieve

When we're together
Colors don't matter much to us
When we're together
8-bits is enough for us
Corazon feathers
Flying inside the copper line

When we're together
They are yours and they are mine

Overall Meaning

The song "Colors" by Trocadero is a beautiful representation of how colors and our surroundings affect our human emotions and actions. The song opens up with the color cyan, which is described as the sparkle in the sky. This color represents hope, stability, and creativity. The next color highlighted is yellow, signifying the sun and how it reflects in our eyes, depicting confidence and happiness. Red is the third color represented in the song, which flows with passion in one's art, bringing forth emotions of love, desire, and power. Lastly, the color cobalt blue is described as wisdom in our hearts, representing calmness, intelligence, and good judgment.

The chorus emphasizes that when we are together, colors do not matter much to us. Instead, what is prioritized is the connection between two people. This connection is intimate and exclusive to sharing experiences, emotions, and memories. The lyrics use '8-bits' to represent the simplicity of the connection; it is all that we need to form something great.

The song suggests that darker colors are associated with negative emotions, such as guilt, anger, and chaos. The darker colors also represent the inner darkness within us. Light colors symbolize good and purity, but our masks of goodness can hide our true intentions. The lyric "We stole fire, now there's nothing left to thieve" means that we all have our desires, but when we get them, it sometimes results in an empty feeling.

Cyan is the sparkle in the sky
(Iota is Cyan)
Yellow sun, reflected in your eye
(Eta is gold (Yellow) it makes sense they're together)
Red flows through the passion in your art
(Sigma's orange, and ambitious)
Cobalt blue, the wisdom in your heart
(Alpha, Church, duh)
Dark is for the killer that's inside
(Omega is Dark (black)
Light surrounds the goodness that you hide
(This is the one I'm confused about)
Purple hearts are tugging at our sleeve
(Theta, he was blue and purple, fragment of Trust)
We stole fire, now there's nothing left to thieve

Goregoth the destroyer

Cyan is the Sparkle In the sky
(Tucker, a reference to the running joke that nobody knows if his armor is aqua, teal or cyan)
Yellow Sun reflected in your eyes
(Sister, a reference to her falling from the sky in a ship. Could also reference Grif and the running joke of them thinking he's yellow, but I think it's Sister)
Red flows through the passion in your art
(Likely Sarge, as his passion is killing blues and he is very loyal to red team, thus the "Red flows through the passion")
Cobalt Blue, the wisdom in your heart
(Church, a reference to how he is widely considered the most rational of the Reds and Blues)
Dark is for the killer that's inside
Light surrounds the goodness that you hide
(Tex for both. She is very ambitious and enjoys killing, however she has a hidden soft side, Church being the "light" referencing his ghost(or technically holographic form), surrounding her dark side and trying to keep it with him)
Purple hearts, are tugging at our sleeve
(References both Doc and Caboose. Doc is purple, and is constantly trying to be accepted by the teams, the "tugging at our sleeves", referencing Caboose due to him being shot in the foot, so he would get a purple heart, as well as the fact that he acts like a stupid child, desperate for attention explaining the "tugging at our sleeves")
We stole fire, now there's nothing left to thieve.
(I'm a bit confused about this one, but it could reference Wyoming due to him and Gamma making up the prophecy to gain control of the aliens)

Deflated Church

Does anyone know what is being said in the middle sort of section? I've looked up the lyrics but I can't find what the language or the meaning is. The lyrics are

"issho no toki wa
iro nante kankei nai
issho no toki wa
hachi-bitto de juubun
Corazon feathers
Dousen no naka wo tobu"

If you could help that would be great

Amazing how a series that was supposed to be a one off comedy machinima managed to inspire such beautiful music

1:59 Choke up a little every time I hear that part. There's a lot of thematic weight about the whole show in this song if you look deeper than what the lyrics literally mean. To me, the "we stole fire" part, if you tie that phrase into it's original mythological meaning, ties into their finding out the truth in season 8, and "now there's nothing left to fear" represents their decision afterwards to nut up and fight anyway. Someone should really make AMVs of these songs to montages of scenes that tie to the lyrics. If I made one to this, the "purple hearts" line would either be a screenshot of Church getting blown up or Griff getting run over. :P

『 nice teal 』

This band is WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too underrated. I've been listening to Roses Are Red for years now and only just now discovered that they released a 2nd album. And all I have to say is: So Fucking Good.

+Jad Al Khatib Light could be epsilon? Or it could be tex (the light of church's life, ultimately good hearted with a cold exterior).

Khalid Brown

this is a much better comparison than trying to fit it the the humans

+Zumapwnz Oh, I didn't know that, thanks for that. Still, it's fun to analyze and find, ah, "coincidences"

Base 330 Films

It's not related, but it's a fun comparison.

Alpha wasn't blue. Epsilon was. Whenever alpha was shown in "ghost form" he was shown as white. So, Alpha could be the "light."

"Dark is for the killer that's inside/Lights around the goodness that you hide"

If this song is describing the characters by colour does this mean Tex was actually a caring person deep, deep, deep inside :0
