They recorded their first full-length, titled 100 Miles From Home at The Atomic Garden Recording Studio in East Palo Alto, CA. A record label was found and in December of 2009, Troubled Coast released the 10" LP on Creator-Destructor Records.
A few months later they went back to Atomic Garden to record and self-release the Vagabonds EP, a slightly more melodic and progressive album that took a few steps away from the hardcore vibe. In late 2010, they went to Aaron Hellam at Castle Ultimate Studios for their latest project, a full length titled Letters. The album goes in a new direction, offering more clean singing and in some songs, a poetic lyrical style. The sound is varied, moving from upbeat and fast to slow and calm to heavy and dark. It features many guest talents, including cello and harmonica players and James Phillips (of Final Fight) on guest vocals. Letters was released on April 5th 2011.
I've Been Thinking About Leaving You was released January 12th, 2012 on Pure Noise Records, is the most recent release as of this writing, bringing more melodic, clean vocals which continue to counter the still-present abrasive screaming and it garnered positive reviews from various websites. It was released digitally and as a 7" vinyl which was a limited press of 1,000 and pressed in the 3 different colors of black, a blue-white half and half, along with a 'Coke bottle' green. The band toured with groups such as La Dispute and The Story So Far in the first half of 2012.

Amends
Troubled Coast Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
No one can hold onto history with fingertips.
Through notes we collect and hide in our pockets and all our letters we can make amends.
In "Amends", Troubled Coast delves into the idea that we cannot control our future, and that our past cannot be held onto forever. The line "No one can write out a future and live it" acknowledges the fact that we can plan and dream about what we want our future to look like, but it is not guaranteed. Life can take unexpected turns, and we have to learn to adapt and accept change. The second line, "No one can hold onto history with fingertips", speaks to the idea that we cannot change our past, no matter how hard we try. We cannot hold onto it, and it is not productive to dwell on it.
Instead, the song suggests that through music ("notes we collect"), and writing ("all our letters"), we can make amends with ourselves and those around us. While we cannot control what has happened, we can control how we react to it and move forward. The idea of making amends implies that there is a process of forgiveness and healing that needs to take place. This can be understood as a call to action, to take responsibility for our past mistakes and actively work towards rebuilding relationships and making things right.
