You're the One
Troy Olsen Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You gotta lotta nerve comin' in here
And sayin' that stuff about her
Why don't you just keep it to yourself
I hear you sayin' she's no good
But I for one know better
Myabe you should just talk about somethin' else

You're the one who hurt her
And you're the one who made her cry
You're the one who lost her somehow
You're the one who had her
And you're the one who's gotta live without her
I'm the one she's lovin' now

Everyone in here knows there's two sides to every story
So why don't we leave well enough alone
You had your chance with her but now she's gone forever
'Cause I'm gonna love her like nothin' she's ever known

And she deserves more than you can give her
She don't need you spreadin' talk around

And you don't have the right to put her down
No no

Overall Meaning

These lyrics convey a strong message of standing up for someone who has been hurt and mistreated. The singer is directly addressing someone who is talking negatively about a woman, presumably someone they both know. The singer calls out the other person's audacity in speaking ill of her and suggests that they keep quiet instead. The singer then goes on to declare that the woman in question is being loved by him now and that she deserves much more respect and love than what the other person had to offer her. The singer ends with a firm statement that the other person has no right to put her down.

The singer Troy Olsen delivers these lyrics with a strong and emotive vocal performance that perfectly captures the passion and conviction of the words. This song serves as an anthem for anyone who has ever stood up for someone they care about and protected them from harm. It also speaks to the importance of treating others with kindness and respect, and the consequences that can result from failing to do so. Overall, "You're The One" is a powerful and moving country song that resonates deeply with anyone who has ever loved and cared for someone, and stood up to defend them when they were being wronged.

Man I have been trying to track this song down for years, came out my Sr year of high school but never could remember who sang it. Thanks to god and country music by George strait mentioning billy graham is what reminded me of this song again. The billy grahams bible part finally got it tracked down (also the only vs I could remember these days but always could hear the melody in my mind) . Absolutely love this song
