Lucky Strike
Troye Sivan Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Oh, I want to know just how to love you
The jewel of California
Oh, I want to skip stones on your skin, boy
And drown me in your water

And my boy like a queen
Unlike one you've ever seen
He knows how to love me better
A hit of dopamine, higher than I've ever been
He knows how to love me better

'Cause you're safe like spring time
Short days, long nights, boy
Tell me all the ways to love you
'Cause you taste like Lucky Strikes
You drag, I light, boy
Tell me all the ways to love you
Tell me all the ways to love you
Tell me all the ways to love you

Oh, I wanna tip toe through your bliss, boy
Get lost the more I find ya
Oh, don't wanna miss a second of this, boy
Hold tight and love me longer

And my boy like a queen
Unlike one you've ever seen
He knows how to love me better
(He knows how to love me better)
A hit of dopamine, higher than I've ever been
He knows how to love me better

'Cause you're safe like spring time
Short days, long nights, boy
Tell me all the ways to love you
'Cause you taste like Lucky Strikes
You drag, I light, boy
Tell me all the ways to love you
Tell me all the ways to love you
Tell me all the ways to love you

(Tell me all the ways to love you)
(Tell me all the ways to love you)

Breathe me in, exhale slow
Take me to anywhere you wanna go
Breathe me in, exhale slow
Take me to anywhere you wanna go

'Cause you're safe like spring time
Show days, long nights, boy
Tell me all the ways to love you
'Cause you taste like Lucky Strikes
You drag, I light, boy
Tell me all the ways to love you
Tell me all the ways to love you
Tell me all the ways to love you
Tell me all the ways

(Tell me all the ways to love you)
Tell me all the ways
(Tell me all the ways to love you)

(Tell me all the ways to love you)
(Tell me all the ways to love you)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Troye Sivan's "Lucky Strike" describe the singer's desire to love and be loved by their significant other. The opening lines express the singer's curiosity about how to properly love their partner, who is referred to as the "jewel of California." In the next line, the singer paints a sensual image of wanting to skip stones on their partner's skin and be "drowned" in their "water." This imagery implies a desire to intimately know and explore their partner's body.

The chorus highlights the singer's appreciation for their partner's ability to love them better than anyone else. The line "He knows how to love me better/A hit of dopamine, higher than I've ever been" suggests that their love is intoxicating and addictive. The mention of dopamine, a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure and reward, adds a scientific layer to the song's romantic themes.

The second verse continues the romantic imagery, with the singer wanting to "tip toe through [their] bliss" and not wanting to miss a single moment with their partner. The repetition of the chorus emphasizes the singer's desire to learn all the ways to love their partner, who is compared to the taste of Lucky Strike cigarettes. Overall, "Lucky Strike" is a dreamy and romantic song that captures the magic and intensity of falling in love.

Troye Sivan is so underrated, he deserves more. His songs really touch the bottom of my heart and I always have a special feeling after listening to his songs. And he is literally a piece of art that deserves to be loved by the world. Ahhhhhh, I'm kinda falling for him ; ]

@garypamatat1602

Allison Chu. Yes Troye Sivan is under rated. He constantly puts out top notched pop songs. Yet he has never had a top billboard hot 100 hit. Yes he had a couple albums that have charted in the hot 200 album charts. I blame the horrible increase of Garbage rap songs that are filling up the hot 100 charts. I just counted over 33 rap songs on the hot 100. Most are album tracks and not even singles and are not even getting radio play. Bring "pop" music back to the pop charts.

@tracyliew166

Allison Chu hhhhh you’re not alone 😁

@ariellawaters6655

@Gary Pamatat I do agree that Troye is underrated but those statistics are inaccurate and I don't know where you got those from. Blue Neighbourhood reached no. 7 on the Billboard 200 and Bloom reached no. 4. Wild and TRXYE both reached no.5 on the Billboard 200 and he has had 5 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
