Liar
Truslow Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I hear its voices calling me
Stained by the blood of a weaker man
It seems to fit perfect in my hand
Whoa oh oh
What's another for today?
Whoa oh oh
Just another down the drain
And i'm telling these voices time to leave
And it may be stained by a weaker man
But I stand alive with open hands
Whoa oh oh
I'm another for today
Whoa oh oh
Not another in the game
You're a liar
This melody, my fire
You try to inspire my tradegy today
'Cause you're a liar
This melody, my fire
You try to inspire, my tradgey today
Drawn by the weight of a loaded gun
Offset the heart 'till the deed is done
Pull doen that trigger 'til the hammer breaks
Lost to the sound of a ricochet
'Cause you're a liar
This melody, my fire
You try to inspire, my tradgey today
'Cause you're a liar
This melody, my fire
You try to inspire, my tradgey today
'Cause you're a liar
This melody, my fire
You try to inspire, my tradgey today
And i'm callin' you out, callin' you out
For who you are, you're a liar
Yes i'm callin' you out, callin' you out
For who you are, you're a liar
And i'm callin' you out, callin' you out
For who you are, you're a liar
Yes i'm callin' you out, callin' you out
For who you are, you're a liar
The lyrics of Truslow's song "Liar" describe a person struggling with inner demons and violent thoughts. The “rusty dagger” represents the idea of harming oneself or others; the voices are the urges to go through with it. The singer is well aware of the destructive nature of these thoughts and is trying to fight them off. They know that giving in to these violent tendencies would only lead to pain and tragedy, hence the repeated refrain of “you’re a liar” to the voices and the imagery of the loaded gun waiting to go off. The melody serves as a counterpoint to these dark lyrics, infused with energy and hope. The singer is trying to find strength in the music and break free from their inner turmoil.
Overall, the song is a vivid description of the struggle with one’s own mind, something that a lot of people can relate to. Many of us experience intrusive thoughts and impulses that scare us or make us feel ashamed. We may not talk about them with others, but they’re a part of us nonetheless. Truslow’s “Liar” creates a space where these thoughts can be acknowledged and confronted. The music offers a way out - an escape from the darkness that sometimes feels all-encompassing.

It pisses me off how unrecognized you guys are. I feel like you guys are a perfect mix of all my favorite bands. Liar being my new favorite song after having fallen in love with ADHD then Doctor. I was ecstatic to hear Hurricane on the radio where I live. I really hope once you guys make it big that I'll be able to brag about loving your music before all that happened
