Are We Arc?
Trust Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The sun gives up the day
And as she slowly hides behind the water
Fiery skies will turn to gray and burn away
And you know in your heart that you need us
But your vision's an ocean between us
Before this night gives way to day
We have something to, something to say
We are the ones
We are the ones
That's not broken and abused
We are the ones
We are the ones
We're not the same as you
Tonight we will watch you fall onto your knees
We are the ones
We are the ones

And the night surrenders to the burning skies
The blinding light today
It gathers the moon, it takes the stars
And turns away
And we've been here before you've seen us
The ocean is miles between us
Before this night gives way to day
We have something to, something to say

We are the ones
We are the ones
That's not broken and abused
We are the ones
We are the ones
We're not the same as you
Tonight we will watch you fall onto your knees
We are the ones
We are the ones

Today is the first day and the last day of forever
There's no turning back now
We can't separate
We can't separate
We can't separate
We can't separate

Can you find a reason?
Where do we begin again?
At the end of separation

We are the ones
We are the ones
That's not broken and abused
We are the ones
We are the ones
We're not the same as you
But tonight we will watch you fall onto your knees

We are the ones
We are the ones

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Trust's song "Are We Arc?" depict a sense of unity and resilience amidst adversity. The opening lines suggest the transition from day to night, with the sun giving up its light and disappearing behind the water. The fiery skies, which represent passion and intensity, slowly turn to gray and fade away. Despite the challenges and the emotional distance between people, there is a deep longing for connection and understanding. The lyrics convey the message that even though the world may seem divided, there are still those who remain unbroken and unharmed. This unity is emphasized through the repetition of "We are the ones," symbolizing a collective strength and difference from others.

The song further highlights the contrast between the night and the burning skies, symbolizing hope and light overcoming the darkness. This juxtaposition signifies a turning point, where the night surrenders to the new day. The repetition of the phrase "Before this night gives way to day, we have something to say" suggests a urgency to express oneself before it's too late. It implies the need to speak up and be heard, possibly in the face of oppression or injustice.

The lyrics take on a more introspective tone with the line "Today is the first day and the last day of forever." It signifies a realization that the present moment holds immense importance, and there is no turning back. The repetition of "We can't separate" reinforces a sense of togetherness and the inability to be divided or torn apart. The lyrics ultimately pose a question, asking if there can be a reason or a starting point to begin again, suggesting a desire for redemption or reconciliation.

Overall, "Are We Arc?" explores themes of unity, individual strength, and the yearning for connection. It encourages listeners to stand together and assert their difference from the prevailing norms.

:) Pretty close, but:

You ride brazen on the fire,
we chase the mercy down,
I’m getting used to the loneliest of sounds.

The voltage running mightily
Your joy personified
You’ve fallen inward all while hopping heights of heights,
and hoping heights of high.

Are we Arc?
Brace yourself
They comin' for you
Second breаth
Anywhere you're tuning in
I'll do my best to harbor it

And you've seen some high??
I'm incarcerate
I'm happy to be kicking it

You ride breezing on the fire
We taste the mercy doubt??
I'm getting used to the loneliest of sounds
The voltage running might be
Your joy personified
You've fallen inward (oh) while
I'm hoping heights of heights
And hoping heights of high

Love for you
My forehead to my big toe/to my bed to womb/wound?
And this mess I'm in
I'll trade it for a second skin

And you've seen some high?
And there you punctured it
It's gone and left a kink in me

You ride breezing on the fire?
We taste the mercy doubt
I'm getting used to the loneliest of sounds
The voltage running might be
Your joy personified
You've fallen inward (oh) while
I'm hoping heights of heights
And hoping heights of high

Louse on me (lasso me)
Louse to my feet (lost in my feet/fear)
Louse on me (lasso me)
Some speck underneath
Louse on me

"I'm getting used to the loneliest of sounds"
The peaceful melancholy of this song really gets me every time. It's amazing how apparently meaningless lyrics (or at least lyrics without a clear unambiguous meaning) can combine with the deep and resonating melody and singing to create a profoundly relatable music. It's as if the gaps in meaning left in the text provided just enough space for the listener to project his own feelings guided by the atmosphere of the sounds. The strength of Robert Alfons' text is its ability to talk about experiences that normally lie beyond the scope of language.

Olivier Couture-Bienvenue so well defined. I love this song, and feel it resonates hugely, yet no idea what it's about. Yet I know EXACTLY what feeling it evokes. If that makes sense. Beautiful.
