I see your point, but I would say that isn't really trust then, is it? The times in my life that have been the hardest and most painful have also been the times when I've learned to trust God deeper.

Not a good analogy. The "bad things" happening to us is the water spilling on our heads, not the pencil going through the bag. The pencil makes it seem like something bad will happen to us but it doesn't. In life, bad things happen to us.

It’s a matter of perception I guess. The bad thing could be the expectation of the water. While bad things actually do occur in life, the trust part is that this is temporary. Eventually, these bad events won’t seem as bad. Just like how you won’t flench after awhile. But this type of trust can be applied anywhere, not necessarily God.

Moses to the Israelite solders after the genocide of the Midianites. Numbers 31: 17-18 17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. 18 But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves. This is just one of the many atrocities according to the Bible committed by the Israelites under Moses in the name of the God of Abraham. It's hard to twist these kind of passages to fit the God of Love. Here are a few passages, supposedly straight from the mouth of Jesus. Matthew 10:34-36, 34 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person's enemies will be those of his own household." and, Luke 14:26, 26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple." According to his supposed own words, Jesus was not a pacifist, but more of a militarist who in the book of Revelation will come and make war. Revelation 19:11, 11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. These are only a few of the things Christians never talk about in the Bible. Instead they pick and choose the parts that fit with their worldview and ignore the rest. The Bible is full of things that you will not read to your children. I dare you to read with your children the Bible stating at the beginning of Genesis straight through to the end of Revelation, without leaving out anything or picking and choosing. I think you would be surprised at just how little you know yourself.
