Brian Williamson,
Être homosexuel à Kingston,
Pas la vie cool, la vie highway,
Pas peace and love, pas Sélassié,

Gay rasta petit homme,
Handicap de taille en somme,
C'est la peste, le choléra,
Ici les hommes ne rigolent pas,

Gay riez, riez gaiement,
C'est le Moyen-Âge, c'est dément,
C'est le Ghetto de Jamaïque,
Qui a chiffonné sa musique,

Brian Williamson,
Être homosexuel à Kingston,
Les lyrics rentrent dans la tête,
Les chanteurs ont sorti les machettes,

Patti boys ou Chichi Man,
Nouvelle cible du Rastaman,
Sous les quolibets ridicules,
C'est la Jamaïque qui brûle,

Le reggae de la tolérance,
Prends comme des allures de violence,
Le rasta bourreau rastaquouère,
A laissé ses locks au vestiaire pour

Brian Williamson,
Être homosexuel à Kingston,
Pas la vie cool, la vie highway,
Pas peace and love pas Sélassié,

Brian Williamson,

En chantant les frères, tous unis,
Alors Marley aurait menti,

Sizzla s'étouffe dans la fumée,
S'époumone à vouloir brûler,
Les petites frappes, fausses fillettes,
Les efféminés, les tapettes,

Bounty Killer, Elephant Man,
Capleton, Banton, Beenie Man,
Ravalent leurs joints, se rasent la tête,

Être homosexuel à Kingston,
Caribéen mal aux tropiques,
Il faudra fuir ta Jamaïque,

Mar Marley aurait menti
Mar Marley aurait...

Brian Williamson,
Être homosexuel à Kingston,
Les lyrics rentrent dans la tête,
Les chanteurs ont sorti les machettes,

Son pêché aimer d'autres hommes,
Caribéen mal aux tropiques,
Il faudra fuir ta Jamaïque,

Fuir, fuir, ta Jamaïque (x3)

Overall Meaning

The song "Brian Williamson" by Tryo addresses the struggle of being gay in Kingston, Jamaica. The lyrics describe the harsh reality of living in a society that is not accepting of homosexuality. The song uses powerful imagery and metaphors such as "handicap de taille" or physical handicaps, to emphasize the struggles these individuals go through. The lyrics also mention the violent backlash faced by those who come out as gay in the community, as well as the dangerous rhetoric promoted by some reggae singers.

The last verse is particularly powerful, as it talks about the hypocrisy of some of the Jamaican reggae singers who preach peace and love, but promote violence towards the LGBT community. The song ends with a call to flee from Jamaica, recognizing just how dangerous it can be for those who are different. This song is a poignant reminder of the importance of acceptance and the dangers of hate.
