Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

In Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi's song Kanpai, the lyrics speak about the bonds of friendship and memories of youth that cannot be fully expressed in words. The song reflects on the bruises and the joys experienced over time with friends who have been shoulder to shoulder, in the moments of happiness and pain. The lyrics ask how much time has passed since that day when they patted each other's shoulders and counted the setting sun. The song then questions whether those friends from hometown are still in the heart.

The lyrics then shift to a moment of joy and a little bit of loneliness, with two people looking at each other in candlelight. The song expresses the desire to sing words of both joy and tears of tomorrow's light, to be soaked in the body without looking back. The lyrics advise that even if one is blown by the wind or beaten by the rain, one should not turn one's back on the love that is believed. The song ends with a toast to the singer, now standing on the big, big stage of life, starting a long journey with an earnest wish for happiness.

Overall, Kanpai talks about friendship, love, the passing of time, and life's journey. It celebrates the precious memories of youth and the beauty of relationships with loved ones and offers a hopeful message for the future.

Thinking of the strong bonds
of the younghood days which we can't say it all
Sometimes there are wounds, sometimes joy
Pats in the shoulders, those days

Since then how much there is until now
How many setting suns we counted
¿Do the friends of your hometown
always live in your heart?

Cheers to you now that you rehearse
In the great great stage of life
A long distance you started to walk
I wish you happiness

Two people between candlelights
In that way the eyes get narrow
A great joy and a little loneliness
I want to sing with words of tears

The bodies bathe in the light of tomorrow
You can continue without looking back
Even if the wind blows, even if the rain strikes
Don't turn your back to the love you believed

Cheers to you now that you rehearse
In the great great stage of life
A long distance you started to walk
I wish you happiness

Cheers to you now that you rehearse
In the great great stage of life
A long distance you started to walk
I wish you happiness
I wish you happiness

Just knew that so many nice and beautiful Chinese songs were from Japanese originally. The composers and singers of Japan are so great, thank you so much!
