Imprint of Pleasure
Tube & Berger Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Why, man, throughout the world, has given this extraordinary importance to pleasure
Why, continuing pursuing everlasting pleasure?
First of all, why has man, given such importance to pleasure?
Why, man, throughout the world, has given this extraordinary importance to pleasure
Why, continuing pursuing everlasting pleasure?
Why, man, throughout the world, has given this extraordinary importance to pleasure
Why, continuing pursuing everlasting pleasure?
The lyrics to Tube & Berger's song Imprint of Pleasure ask a series of questions about the human pursuit of pleasure. The first stanza starts with an existential question, asking why humans consider pleasure so important. The following two stanzas extend this question by pondering why pleasure is valued across cultures and why humans continue to pursue it relentlessly. These lyrics suggest a deep-seated human desire for pleasure that is universal, enduring, and hard to fully explain.
Beyond the existential questions posed by the lyrics, there may also be a more specific meaning behind the song's title "Imprint of Pleasure." It could suggest that pleasure is something that leaves a lasting mark or impression on us, much like a tattoo or a brand. This interpretation could imply that our pursuit of pleasure is not just fleeting, but shapes who we are and how we live our lives, leaving a permanent imprint on our psyche.
Overall, the lyrics to Imprint of Pleasure offer a thought-provoking meditation on one of the most fundamental human drives: the pursuit of happiness and pleasure.

it's actually from a speech in about 1980 by Jiddu Krishnamurti, a famous Indian spiritual teacher. God knows how or why they came upon it but it's pretty highbrow stuff to be hearing in a club... This is one of those tunes with proper substance, that will stand the test of time.
