The band was originally founded in 1998.
Original main band members:
- Johan van der Veen (1981) - vocals
- Mirjam Timmer (1982) - vocals and guitar
In December 2003, Johan left the music business. Mirjam decided to start a career as a solo singer as MIR.
In 2007 Johan and Mirjam wanted to reunite, but Johan got a muscle disease so he wasn't able to perform. He was temporarily replaced by Auke Busman on vocals and guitar).
In 2009 Mirjam found her final new singing partner: Joost Bloemendal with help from radio DJ Ruud de Wild.
In 2011, Joost left and from now on Mirjam will be the only singer of Twarres.

Twarres wat een hebben jullie een pijnlijk nr geschreven. Elk kind heeft het nodig om te horen dat zijn\haar vader van ze houdt. Als dan ook de liefde op een foute ondeugdelijke manier getoond wordt (wat ik begrepen heb vanuit een documentaire) vindt ik het knap dat je er zo mee om kan gaan. Boosheid is de andere kant van de liefde en hoort zeker bij onrecht
