Amydst the Myst
Twiddle Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Peaking through my window at night
A sour taste of spice
Floating through my living air supply
And earthy shoe untied
Dribbling sketches of a man in stride
A journey months behind
Taking in all that our time could bide… yea
Amydst the mist I find there's no escaping all the sadness that keeps on making your time collide and tumble down
And in these faults of life I find you can avoid the crowded noise and scrape off all your worlds foul resin
The candy cage of life
Wasting riches from our mothers eye
A tiny twist of dice
Bubbling through us like warm boiling ice
A static stage unwired
Drifting sweetly till there lives entwined
Four simple minds inspired
Creating potions from there souls combined…yea
Amydst the mist I find there's no escaping all the sadness that keeps on making your time collide and tumble down
And in these faults of life I find you can avoid the crowded noise and scrape off all your worlds foul resin
The creepy crunch of leaves
Walking on a path of broken seems
And than she strips my trees
Leaving nothing but a sharp stiff breeze
Amidst the mist I find
All the answers that life tries to hide
A blissful truth unkind
Scarring sweetly in my frame of time…yea
Amydst the mist I find there's no escaping all the sadness that keeps on making your time collide and tumble down
And in these faults of life I find you can avoid the crowded noise and scrape off all your worlds foul resin
In the lyrics to Twiddle's song Amydst the Myst, the singer describes a series of sensory experiences that are both earthy and otherworldly. The first verse sets the tone for the song, as the singer describes "country crisp sunlight" peeking through the window at night, creating an unusual juxtaposition of two different times of day. There is a "sour taste of spice" that floats through the air, and an "earthy shoe untied" that suggests a feeling of being grounded in the physical world. The singer then describes "dribbling sketches of a man in stride" and a "journey months behind," suggesting memories or experiences that are intertwined with the present moment.
The chorus of the song provides a contrast to the sensory experiences of the first verse, as the singer describes "the sadness that keeps on making your time collide and tumble down." The mist serves as a metaphor for the obstacles and challenges that can obscure our vision and prevent us from seeing clearly. However, the singer also suggests that there is a way to find peace and clarity even amid the mist, by avoiding the "crowded noise" and scraping off the "world's foul resin." These lyrics suggest a need to focus on the essential and the genuine, tuning out distractions and negativity in order to see clearly.
The second verse continues the theme of sensory experiences, describing a "candy cage of life" that is both sweet and entrapping, and a "tiny twist of dice" that suggests a sense of unpredictability or risk. There is a sense of connection and collaboration, as "four simple minds" create "potions from their souls combined." The final section of the song describes a feeling of loss and devastation, as "she strips my trees" and leaves "nothing but a sharp stiff breeze." Yet even in the face of this destruction, the singer finds "blissful truth unkind" and a sense of "scarring sweetly in my frame of time."
