Imagine being 16 or 17 years old and hearing this on the radio for the first time. That was my experience back in 1973 when I heard this. The term blown away is a complete understatement. To this day I hear this and I'm still blown away. I'm almost 64. Music is the most amazing magic.
@eduardoanibalrivero6203
Me too, from Argentine
@tomlavin1603
Yep, same age as you.
@davedawson5357
Was a junior in high school when I first heard it. Now, 49 years later, I still love it.
@insomnia2156
First of all,thank God y'all made it to a ripe age.Second,I heard this when I was 16 and was blown away,I'm 18 now
@cwade3198
@@insomnia2156 It's music like this that keeps me alive, son. I'm still finding music and bands that slipped by me years back. YouTube is my time machine!

HOLY CRAP. Wearing headphones, all the vocals are on the left side, but the echo for them is on the right side. Makes you feel like he's on your left, yodeling into a valley that's on your right.
Also, all the melodies are on the left, and all the harmonies are on the right. Headphones give this song a WHOLE new feeling. Whistling on the right, accordion on the left... They REALLY liked playing with the stereo mix.
@blackidna
"They really liked playing with the stereo mix."
In the words of Abe Simpson "...which was the style at the time..."
In the 60s and 70s a lot of artists played with stereo mix. One notable example is "For What It's Worth" by Buffalo Springfield: try listening to the song with both ears, after that with the left and then the right, you'll see what I mean.
@ragepoweredgamer
@@blackidna I'm well aware of that stuff, I'd just only heard the live version of this song for years, and never put on headphones and listened to the album version. And if we're doing Abe Simpson quotes, I'm throwing in my favorite: "I wanna hear the Glen Miller orchestra, and I wanna see cops beatin' up hippies."

The flute really stand out.
