You'd be the same
The windows were bending,
and decorated with rain
I couldn't speak,
'Cause my thinking was stunned
I picked up the keys,
Nothing could stop me leaving
the impulse runs through my blood
And I hope you live for your freedom,
I hope you enjoy the lust
And I got in the car,
And put her in to first.
Not stopping for lights,
'Cause my vision was blurred
One hand on the wheel,
the other open and cut
You know I still have to tow,
You know I wanted to stay
The car in front
Kept tapping on-off the breaks
Nothing could stop me leaving
The impulse runs through my blood
I hope you live for your freedom
I hope you enjoy the lust
So I let go,
So I let go,
Ignoring the lights, that mark out the road
And I wanted to meet the one,
The one with the healthy glow
So I let go,
You made me let go
I think I just needed a rush, needed a rush.
Nothing could stop me speeding
Or missing that bend in the road
A 90 head-on collision
Is how I lost control
So I let go,
So I let go
Ignoring the lights, that mark out the road
Wanted to meet the one,
The one with the healthy glow
So I let go,
You made me let go
I think I just needed a rush, needed a rush.
The lyrics of Twin Atlantic's song "Yes I Was Drunk" deal with the idea of impulsive behavior fueled by alcohol and its consequences. The song describes a situation where the singer is intoxicated and being urged to leave by someone else. Despite feeling unable to speak coherently, they comply and get behind the wheel of a car. The lyrics depict a sense of risk-taking and recklessness, as the singer ignores traffic laws and drives at high speed while experiencing blurred vision.
Throughout the song, the chorus emphasizes the idea of impulsivity and the sensation of being driven by a rush of energy. Despite knowing the potential danger and the potential consequences of their actions, the singer seems unable to control their impulses. The song's lyrics describe the inevitability of their collision, highlighting the tragedy that can result from reckless decisions made under the influence.
Overall, the lyrics of "Yes I Was Drunk" are a vivid and powerful representation of the impact that alcohol can have on decision-making and the dangers of impulsive behavior.
