Growing from their early bedroom folk beginnings, the band is known for interchanging each performance between hushed guitar notes to downtempo electronic to explosive post-rock crescendos.
Following up from the band's previous efforts from the climatic post-rock and shoegaze elements revolved around See You When I See You, the latest EP title Lock & Key is a return to quiet contemplative form. Shifting sonic elements from Domingo's intricate and lush guitar layers and the band's shift from calming to explosive, Twin Oaks carries Lock & Key through quiet piano keys and tape loop layers as the backbone to Brown's emotion-laden vocals. Recorded entirely in Brown's home in Southern California through the midst of the 2020 pandemic and co-produced with Shaun Oppedisano, the band's fondness for sound design is heard through lofi undertones of age and nostalgia. Lock & Key is a lyrical shift, this time outwardly focused on interpersonal relationships and struggling to meet expectations. Lock & Key was released on February 19th, 2021.
The band has previously shared the stage with Mt. Joy, The Joy Formidable, Angelo DeAugustine, Flora Cash, and Emma Ruth Rundle.
Find a Way
Twin Oaks Lyrics

To find the ways
Speak slow, drown it out, and bare to me your soul
To find the ways
And they want, let me know.
And they want, tell it all.
To find a way
Hold out for yourself, let chaos bring them hell
To find a way
And they want, let me know.
And they want, tell it all.
The lyrics to Twin Oaks's song "Find a Way" implore the listener to take the time to unwind, occupy their mind, and search within themselves to find a way forward. The repeated line "to find the ways" emphasizes the urgency of this message, emphasizing the importance of introspection and self-discovery. The second verse encourages the listener to "drown out" distractions and "bare" their soul, suggesting that true progress can only come from confronting and processing one's emotions.
The chorus takes a more assertive tone, with the repeated phrase "and they want, let me know" and "tell it all" suggesting that the singer is demanding honesty and transparency from those around them. The final lines of the song further emphasize the idea of perseverance through adversity, with the lyrics encouraging the listener to "give up" the weight that has been holding them down and "hold out" for their own needs, even if it causes chaos for others.
"Find a Way" is a powerful anthem that speaks to the struggles of self-discovery and self-care in a chaotic world. Its message is one of empowerment, urging listeners to take control of their own lives and not be held back by the expectations or pressures of others.
