Dance Through It
Twin Peaks Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Got a problem everywhere she goes
But she doesn't pay mind to it
She keep thirty-three twenties and a five and a one
Not for spendin' but for death when it comes

Yeah she dance through it, she dance through it
Got a problem that she's tryin' to hide
When she can't do it, she dance through it
Gets her heart beatin' fast all night

Said she dance through it, she dance through it
Dance through it, she dance through it

When she sense that there's a danger near
She doesn't seem to care about it
She's got pretty bad news rainin' down in the two's
But she hasn't missed a step all night

Yeah she dance through it, she dance through it
Gets her heart beatin' fast all night
When she can't do it, she dance through it
Got a problem that she's tryin' to hide

Said she dance through it, she dance through it
Dance through it, she dance through it

Dance through it, she dance through it
Got a problem that she's tryin' to hide
Dance through it, she dance through it

Get's her heart beatin' fast all night
Dance through it, she dance through it

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Dance Through It" by Twin Peaks convey the story of a person who faces problems and challenges in their life but chooses to ignore them and continue living in their own way. The opening lines suggest that this person is constantly surrounded by problems wherever they go, but they simply disregard them and don't let them affect their state of mind. The mention of keeping money for death instead of spending it implies that this person is prepared for the worst but chooses to enjoy life regardless.

The chorus emphasizes the resilience and coping mechanism of this person. They dance through their problems, finding solace and release in music and movement. It becomes a way for them to escape and momentarily forget about the challenges they are facing. The repetition of "dance through it" reinforces the idea that this person has developed a habit of confronting their problems head-on while keeping a positive outlook.

The second verse adds another layer to the story, suggesting that even when danger is looming and bad news is raining down, this person remains unfazed and continues to dance. It implies that they have developed a strength and resilience to face adversity, refusing to let it dampen their spirits or hinder their enjoyment of life.

Overall, "Dance Through It" delivers a message of perseverance and resilience in the face of challenges. It highlights the power of music and dance as a means of escape and finding joy in difficult times.

My wife and I discovered twin peaks on our Honeymoon in San Francisco at the Outside lands festival. They played on the twin peaks stage! I was a fan immediately. We made plans to see them at Shaky knees in Atlanta a couple years later and got caught in some serious traffic and missed every song except strawberry smoothie.. I was so disappointed. Anyway great band!!

Keith Wright my 23 year old son says this song completely sums me up. I do “dance through it” but then I always figure out my stuff!!
