I could smoke a roach, and do have to light bugs
I could pack a bowl, but I'm not Cheech and Chong
Not Cypress Hill, but I like hittin' bongs
I can be fat, and don't have to gain weight
I can be a legend, and don't have to be great
I don't have to take a plane to fly high
I don't want to live my life just to die
I could spark my cigarette with a lighter or match
I can have a gun, and I don't have to shoot
I can get a job, and try to earn a little loot
I could be a bum and live in a box
I could move to your neighborhood, stayin' on your block
I can like tricks, but I'm not a silly rabbit
I can't stop smokin' because I can't kick the habit
What is a jam if you don't come smooth?
What is a beat if you don't have a groove?
I could be the President, and legalize weed
I could grow a field of bud with a hand full of seeds
Damn
The lyrics to Twiztid's song "I Could" express the idea that the singer has a lot of options in life and doesn't have to conform to any particular expectations or standards. The song is about the freedom to choose one's own path, whether that means making a lot of money without selling drugs, enjoying different recreational activities without being labeled as a certain type of person, or pursuing one's own interests and passions without worrying about external measures of success.
The opening lines of the song establish this theme by stating that the singer could make a million dollars without resorting to selling drugs, and could smoke a roach without having to resort to lighting bugs. These lines suggest that there are other options available to the singer besides the usual stereotypes that people might associate with certain activities. The singer then goes on to list a series of other things they could do or be, from being fat without gaining weight, to being a DJ without scratching, to being a bum living in a box or moving to someone else's neighborhood. The chorus then poses a series of rhetorical questions about what music is without a smooth delivery and what a beat is without a groove, which suggests that the singer is interested in the artistry and creative expression that can be found in all types of music and lifestyles.
Overall, the lyrics to "I Could" celebrate individuality and emphasize the power of choice, encouraging listeners to forge their own path in life and reject any labels or expectations that might limit them.
