" No one knows exactly what she is. Even after all these years, she remained a mystery to us all. Some call her the Queen of Ice, some call her the Heart-Freezer, but no one knows her real name. Those who went after her never came back from their quest, and rumors say their bodies are still perfectly unharmed in their ice casing that they were kept in for decades. Some could tell us of what seemed to be a castle made of crystal clear blue ice, rising to the grey winter sky of the frozen plains to the north. The stories were fascinating. I had to see it for myself.
For this very reason, I have found myself a few weeks later crossing the snowy lands on my way to the place where she was last seen. My heart was racing from thoughts of the amazing things I would see, and my mind was hungry to know more. The snow sledge that carried me through was going at full speed, with the horses doing their best to keep the speed to a maximum. The scenery around did not change for the entire journey: white plains of snow and pale gray sky. From time to time you could see a small figure of an animal in the distance, making its way to an unknown destination. To the ordinary man, this could be boring to death, but I was too busy thinking of what's up ahead to pay attention to those little details.
After what felt like many hours, when the dark already began to cast it's blackness over the sky and the first stars appeared, I suddenly caught sight of what seemed to be a large building far away. My heart jumped; This is it. We kept riding into the horizon and the little silhouette became larger with every minute, until I could finally figure it. A huge castle was standing in front of me, like the legends told, made of clear blue crystals of ice, with towers and windows and even a large flag made of ice on top. A large gate was blocking the entrance and two ice statues of knights in armor were standing beside it. I stopped the sledge, jumped out, and approached the gate, trying to find a way to open it. Suddenly, an odd sound came from behind me, and before I knew it, I was knocked down to the ground in a powerful hit. I quickly rolled on my back to see the attacker, and found the ice statues standing above me, their ice swords pointed right at me to prevent me from moving.
"Ah... an adventurer! Lovely..." I heard a voice saying. It was a gentle and pleasant female voice, like a voice of an angel, but with a weird dark tint to it. Then, suddenly, I was lifted in the air by an unknown force, and slowly descended to the ground until I landed on my feet again, right in front the gate.
And there she was, slowly walking out the entrance, approaching me. She had the face of a young women, pale like the snow and with a light blue tint, and her eyes were black as the night sky above us. Her dark blue hair was falling on her shoulders and reaching all the way down to her hips, covering her fancy looking robes that who reached all the way to the ground. She walked towards me with what seemed to be a tiny smile of joy, and possibly contempt, until she stood right in front of me. She looked at me from head to toe, and then spoke:
"You look different than the others... shame..."
I tried to move back, but the ice knights grabbed my shoulders and rooted me in place.
"I think you deserve a special treatment, young one... Oh, the things we can do together..." she whispered. Her voice sounded like a winter wind blowing, and chills ran down my spine with every word. She got closer and closer, her face right in front of mine. She put her pale white hand on my face, gently caressing it. Her hand was so cold to the touch it burned.
"I'll make all mine, dear..." she whispered again, licking her lips. She brought her face even closer to mine, until finally our lips met.
"You are mine..."
A frozen-cold wave washed my body from the inside, numbing me. My arms and feet became stiff and my eyes opened wide. She didn't let go, breathing icy air down my throat, until finally, a few seconds later, my vision turned black. But just before I passed out, I could hear her voice echoing in my mind, gentle and pleasant yet so dangerous:
"Join me, adventurer. Let the Winterspell take you over."

Listen, my child, listen well
And I shall tell you of the Winterspell
Listen, my child, to fable of old,
Through fire and flame and winter cold,
When tyrants bent knee and kingdoms fell,
Among the ashes of the Winterspell.
Up rose a great yell
As the tyrants of old rang their bell
They ran from their peoples and then they hid
Though nothing could change what they did
The tyrants could not restrict the people’s impel
As they all put their faith in the Winterspell.
Not from anything, but I took a few lines and fleshed it out.

the winterspell is upon us, there is nothing we can do about it, except...
journey through the land,
help each other hand for hand,
and do not go astray,
build fire at night
do what is right,
only travel at day,
do not be late,
find the black crate,
open it when the sky is grey,
keep on the path,
defeat the golems wrath,
and dodge the winterspell ray.
@evanwarner6162
Snow squeaked softly beneath his boots as he passed beneath the trees, soft and silent as a memory carried upon the wind. The mist gave way before him, curling in soft tendrils about the hem of his robes.
A flash. A vivid memory of a battle long past, of brothers lost, of an empire whose sons and daughters had bled in its name....
He flung himself to his knees before the ancient gravestone, images flooding his mind, drowning him in their untamed emotion and raw, inexplicable vividness.
What do mortals know of war? A single, solitary tear traced its way down his cheek before freezing on his skin.
What do they understand of loss? His hands, white and clenched about his staff, shook ever so slightly.
Dying was so simple, so easy....Everyone he had ever known had done so.
What do the mortals know? It is not the dying that is hard. It is surviving, and living with the loss...the pain...
The mortals fight their wars. They give their lives for lord, land and love. He closed his eyes, sighing imperceptibly.
Mortality is their blessing. Let them revel in it. 'Forever' is something they will never come to comprehend. Let them find solitude and comfort in death, and the end it brings.
They say all things will one day fade....if only it were true.
@floraice11
Listen now my child to tale of old.
In a land of darkness and a land of cold.
When kings bent knee and tyrants fell.
