They began singing together in gospel ensembles and choirs, meeting in the group NOW (News of the World) before turning to secular music. They gained initial recognition during the mid and late '70s as background singers for disco performer Sylvester. Their glorious voices capably supported his on the hits "Dance (Disco Heat)" and "(You Make Me Feel) Mighty Real," plus his albums. The legendary performer/producer/composer Harvey Fuqua signed them to his Honey label that was distributed by Fantasy. They issued the LP Backatcha and the single "Taking Away Your Space" in 1980. They subsequently had three chart singles as the Weather Girls from 1982-1985, the biggest of which was "It's Raining Men" in 1982. The duo recorded three LPs for Columbia Records before disbanding in the late '80s. ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide

SUCH A SHAME THAT THE MUSIC INDUSTRY COULDN'T LOOK PAST THEIR WEIGHT.BOTH OF THESE LADIES COULD REALLY BLOW.

So very true. It's a damnable shame but we bought their records. The Gays always supported these two magnificent artist.

There are a lot of artists that fell by the wayside because they didn't have the "look" the music industry wanted. It's unfortunate, but the prettier the package, the more they promote the artist. These non talented, nobody singers get a lot more money and exposure than heavier more talented artists. Exception - Luther Vandross and Adele, just to name a couple of them.
