A$AP Rocky is a rapper and model from Harlem, New York. He is a member of the rap collective, “A$AP Mob” but has also released many solo albums that feature no presence from the other Mob members. He made his mixtape debut in 2011, with the “LIVE. LOVE. A$AP” mixtape which was met with generally positive reception. Rocky’s combination of his southern rap influences with his traditional New York sound really struck a chord with audiences. He followed this mixtape with his 2013 album “LONG. LIVE. A$AP” which debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The album boasted features from Kendrick Lamar, Drake, 2 Chainz, Joey Bada$$, and Action Bronson among many others. The album was generally well received although some fans weren’t interested in Rocky’s more accessible and mainstream sound found on this album. He followed this with his 2015 album “AT. LONG. LAST. A$AP” which was received well by both critics and fans. A lot of listeners consider this to be Rocky’s best album to date as it took inspiration from both his debut mixtape and “LONG. LIVE. A$AP.” to create a more in depth musical experience for longtime followers of Rocky, but was also accessible enough for general audiences. The album also debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and featured collaborations with Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Future among others. His most recent album “Testing” which released in 2018 is perhaps his most experimental album to date. The album received mixed reviews and some listeners felt it was too different from Rocky’s past works. Like Tyler’s equivalent album “Cherry Bomb”, the album has grown on listeners over time. His fans are patiently awaiting his next album “ALL SMILES”
Tyler and A$AP Rocky despite not showing up on each other’s solo albums very often, are frequent collaborators and very close friends. Their relationship started through comparisons drawn between Tyler’s group “Odd Future” and Rocky’s group “A$AP Mob” as they were both exploding in popularity in the early 2010s and in a way reignited a smaller “West Coast vs. East Coast” feud. Tyler encouraged the feud through comments made at shows or in interviews although Rocky didn’t really entertain it very much. In 2015 Tyler and Rocky co-headlined a tour alongside Vince Staples and Danny Brown. They were seen together many times after the tour had been over, leading people to believe they squashed their beef and became friends. This was confirmed with the release of “WHAT THE FUCK RIGHT NOW” which was a freestyle recorded by Tyler and Rocky, and was uploaded to Tyler’s personal YouTube channel on March 3rd, 2016. Since than the pair have worked together many times, such as on A$AP Mob’s “Cozy Tapes Vol. 1” where Rocky raps alongside Playboi Carti, Young Gleesh and Tyler, the Creator on the song “Telephone Calls”. Tyler would once again collaborate with Rocky on the song “Who Dat Boy” on Tyler’s very own “Flower Boy” album. They also released the song “Potato Salad” together on July 23rd, 2018. The song is the first song officially released by the two of them together, as a collaboration. Jaden Smith is also featured in the music video although his vocals are not present on the song. The two have not released any collaboration since although rumors of a “WANG$AP” collaboration album between the two are constantly emerging.

Still that nigga man, yeah the lord's back
Know what I'm saying
They say pearls are for a pretty boy
Shout outs my nigga G Herbo
My nigga Lil Uzi Vert one time
Shout out Three Six Mafia
Thought I made that apparent
That's a hundred for a 'Claren or something
'nother hundred for a parison
Race Tyler, the McLaren
Drive 'Raris like Ferris, huh
Cop my Karats from Carring dammit
Make a bitch wanna stare or something
Niggas stare, you queer or somethin'?
You's a bitch, yeah we stay done
Chose a whip but I'm staying sunny
Diamonds sunny like I'm Cher or something
Smiley faces with the glasses
Fashion brands invite you to Paris
Boy you late that's a demerit, dang it
Fucking maggot brain having
Rappers claiming the trap and the fashion
They only got Louis and the trap
I'm causing the flood and the traffic
The way that you be moving is whack
All of them rumors is facts
They've been in clap for the clap back
Your baby mama a nag nag
Nag nag nag nag nag nag
Who run it? Who run it?
New money blue hundreds
Two hundred, on the dash
Bastard life, who run it?
Catch a blue hundred
I do run it, I do run it
I do run it, I do run it
The song "Run It" by Tyler The Creator and A$AP Rocky features both rappers boasting about their wealth, status, and success, with lyrics that showcase their masculine confidence and power. The opening lines, "Still that nigga man, yeah the lord's back," set the tone for a song that is all about asserting one's dominance and showing off one's material possessions. The repetition of the line "Who run it?" throughout the song reinforces this theme of competition and the desire to be on top.
The first verse features Tyler The Creator boasting about his expensive cars and jewelry, and challenging others to race him. He also takes a swipe at other rappers who claim to represent both the trap and high fashion, suggesting that they are not authentic in either realm. A$AP Rocky's verse continues this theme of competition, with references to blue hundred dollar bills, fast cars, and a "bastard life" that he is proud of.
Overall, the song "Run It" is a celebration of wealth, success, and masculine power, with both Tyler The Creator and A$AP Rocky using their rhymes to assert their dominance and demonstrate their status as big players in the world of hip hop.
