Brother
Tyler Braden Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
We can't find what we need
Get a little restless from the searching
Get a little worn down in between
Like a bull chasing the matador
Is the man left to his own schemes
Everybody needs someone beside you
Shining like a lighthouse from the sea
Brother, let me be your shelter
I'll never leave you all alone
I can be the one you call
When you're low
Brother, let me be your fortress
When the night winds are driving on
Be the one that lights the way
Bring you home
Face down in the desert now
There's a cage locked around my heart
Found a way to drop the keys where my failures were
Now my hands can't reach that far
I ain't made for rivalry
I could never take the world alone
Know that in my weakness I am strong
But it's your love that brings me home
Brother, let me be your shelter
I'll never leave you all alone
I can be the one you call
When you're low
Brother, let me be your fortress
When the night winds are driving on
Be the one that lights the way
Bring you home
And when you call and need me near
Saying where'd you go? (Where'd you go?)
Brother, I'm right here
And all those days when the sky begins to fall
You're the blood of my blood
We can get through it all
Brother, let me be your shelter
Never leave you all alone
I can be the one you call
When you're low
Brother, let me be your shelter
I'll never leave you all alone
I can be the one you call
When you're feelin' low
Brother, let me be your fortress
When the night winds are driving on
Be the one that lights the way
Bring you home
Mm, bring you home
The song "Brother" by Tyler Braden, as the title suggests, is about brotherhood, the unconditional love, support, and understanding that siblings share. The lyrics are an ode to brotherhood, expressing the significance of having someone to depend on during tough times. The song speaks about the struggles and restlessness faced by individuals in their search for purpose, and how brothers can be the reliable support to help them through.
The opening lines describe the uncertainty and weariness that come with searching for meaning, in lines such as "Ramblers in the wilderness, We can't find what we need" and "Get a little restless from the searching, Get a little worn down in between." The metaphor of a bull chasing a matador shows the idea of a man caught up in his own devices without any guidance. The chorus serves as a message from one brother to another, promising a supportive embrace through any trials, stating "Brother, let me be your shelter, I'll never leave you all alone, I can be the one you call when you're low." The second verse describes overcoming personal challenges, and acknowledging that in weakness, one can still be strong with the love and support of a brother.
Overall, "Brother" is a touching and heartfelt tribute to the bond between siblings, emphasizing the importance of having someone to rely on in life's journey.

Saying where'd you go? (Where'd you go?)
Asking where I've been when you needed support
Brother, I'm right here

Proud of you for pursuing your passion, buddy. And also proud to be your former fire chief. You have always committed 100% to whatever you've done, and that's why you have enjoyed success. Be safe, brother.

My father was a firemen and EMT specialist for 30 years. I am coming up on a year an a half, I joined in December of 2018. Through the ups and downs I’ve loved every minute, even the 3am calls that make your heart race like no other when you hurry to the station, throw on your gear and head through them bay doors. Even through the bad calls, I still wouldn’t change a thing and I look forward to many years to come.
