Typhoon's rap career started in 1999 at age 15 in the hip-hop crew Rudeteenz, together with Rico of Opgezwolle and his brother Blaxtar. Three years later he made his solo debut on the collection album "Vet verse flows". He contributed to the album with the tracks "Het doek valt" and "Alea Iacta Est".

After that period of initial success, Typhoon struggled with a burn-out and had been searching for his personal and musical identity. This ultimately resulted in the release of his second solo album in 2014, titled "Lobi da basi" (Surinamese for "Love is King"). This album was instantly widely critically acclaimed and brought him to the attention of a broader musical audience. It ultimately reached platinum status.
After the success of Lobi da basi once again Typhoon struggled with a burn-out. In 2020 he returned to prominence with his third solo album "Lichthuis".

Ghost Train
Typhoon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Called out from a passing train
Like a summons for
All the foolish blood in my veins
And a choice was made
But would you wait
Would you wait
Would you wait
But I was late
Why couldn't you wait
Why couldn't you wait
You only move when I give chase
And when I catch you
You dissipate
The lyrics of Typhoon's song "Ghost Train" describe a feeling of loss and missed opportunity. The singer hears their name being called out from a passing train and feels a strong pull towards it, almost like a summons. However, by the time they arrive at the train station, they are already too late, and the train has already left without them. The lyrics suggest that the singer has made a choice, but it is unclear what that choice is, or whether it was the right one. They are left with a sense of regret and longing, wondering why they couldn't wait, why the train couldn't wait, and why everything is always fleeting and transitory. The final lines of the song convey a sense of frustration and resignation, as the singer chases after the train only to see it disappear into the distance.
Overall, the lyrics to "Ghost Train" are evocative and poetic, suggesting a range of emotions and experiences that are familiar to many listeners. The song speaks to the universal themes of loss, regret, and the fleeting nature of time, while also conveying a sense of hope and possibility.
