Tears
U.M.A Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Church bells toll
Thunder roars around me
I've been warned to prepare myself
For the fall

I'm armed to the teeth with tender pain
Of all yesterdays
Tears on tape
I will follow into your heart
Sketching rain from afar

Tears on tape
She surrenders needle in arm
While we dance into the storm

Darkness falls
Settling the score with love for once and for all
Soaked in blood I cry

I fear we're lost to the summer rain
Lonely and afraid

Tears on tape
I will follow into your heart
Sketching rain from afar

Tears on tape
She surrenders needle in arm
While we dance into the storm

And for a moment there's no pain
For once there's no more pain in your eyes
And maybe we'll love, just enough
To convince us to keep breathing on

Tears on tape
Tears on tape
I will follow into your heart

Tears on tape

Tears on tape
I will follow you, to your arms

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of U.M.A.'s song "Tears on Tape" describe a scene of impending doom, setting the tone for the deeply emotional journey that follows. The church bells tolling and thunder roaring around the singer suggest a sense of foreboding, as if the forces of nature are warning them of something to come. The line "I've been warned to prepare myself for the fall" speaks to a sense of inevitability about the pain and sadness that lies ahead.

As the song progresses, we witness the singer struggling with their emotions, armed "to the teeth with tender pain of all yesterdays." This suggests that the weight of past hurts, regrets, and losses is bearing down on them, making it difficult to move forward. However, there is a glimmer of hope in the repeated refrain of "Tears on tape." This phrase may represent the act of capturing one's emotions and turning them into something beautiful, as a way of healing and finding catharsis.

The reference to a needle in arm and dancing into a storm adds a layer of complexity to the song's meaning, suggesting that the singer may be wrestling with addiction or other self-destructive tendencies. Yet there is still a sense of desperation to find solace and connection with others, even in the midst of darkness and turmoil.

Overall, "Tears on Tape" is a poignant meditation on loss, pain, and the human urge to connect and find meaning in the face of overwhelming suffering.

It seems most useful to me to grow endura carrots. Sadly she knows less about cultivating carrots. Figures. Probably just means the yield is less than other crops. Otherwise too easy to cheese the game. They are harder to find in this game as they don't commonly grow around fairy fountains like in the last game.
