Drive On
U.S. Army Airborne Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

One, one last wish
Without a kiss
I'd hate to see
Your fantasies
Ignore me
It's my destiny
Kill me here
Or I'll disappear
All alone inside my home
I want to shut my fucking mouth
So save your prays for someone else
I just want to hurt myself
So
Drive
Crash and Burn
Let them know
How you end your life all alone
Drive
One last time
For your pride
So you won't feel alive anymore
One, one last wish
You better kiss
Kiss the ground
Without a sound
Ignore me
My own enemy
Kill me here
Or I'll disappear
All alone inside my home
I want to shut my fucking mouth
So save your prays for someone else
I just want to hurt myself
So Drive
Crash and Burn
Let them know
How you end your life all alone
Drive
One last time
For your pride
So you won't feel alive anymore
You better getaway
Cause I don't want to stay
I need to pay myself
With another dose of pain
So Drive
Crash and Burn
Let them know
How you end your life all alone
Drive
One last time

For your pride
So you won't feel alive anymore

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of U.S. Army Airborne's song Drive On start with a set of profound questions that urge the listener to ponder on the fragility of life and the importance of having someone to lean on when times are tough. The lines "Who's gonna tell you when it's too late, who's gonna tell you things aren't so great" highlight the need for someone who can be honest with us and point out our mistakes before it's too late. The line "You can't go on thinking nothing's wrong" makes us realize that we are not invincible, and that acknowledging that we need help is a fundamental part of being human.

The chorus of the song repeats the lines "Who's gonna drive you home tonight, who's gonna hold you down when you shake, who's gonna come around when you break." These lines talk about the vulnerability we all feel at some point in our lives, as well as the importance of having someone there for us in these difficult times. The song is a reminder that we all need help and support at some point in our lives, and that it's okay to ask for it.

Drive on Soldier

Drive on Soldier

One day you'll be alone

Way out there in a combat zone

(Bullets) flying all around
(Rockets, mortars/falling, snipers/crawling, IED's/planted, bullets)
Keep your head close to the ground

Don't you worry about being alone

(First) squads gonna bring you home
(Second, third, fourth, Soldier, Buddy/DS)

So drive on Soldier

Drive on Soldier

(Next Squad gonna bring you home)You'll never be alone

Way out there in a combat zone

My dad was in the army for 20 years and when I was 1 he left for a year to Afghanistan and when he got back he sung this song to me every night for 2 years and every night I cried and this song was a big and good part of my childhood.
