Die Alone
U.S Bombs Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Walked all around through London Town
Hung awhile on carnaby
What happened to the Soho
What happened to Kings Road

A revolution blitze
Completely smashed to bits
Of kids, what about the future
I thought that there was none

Die Alone!
A queens jubilee, the kings gettin change
And Malcomb gets arrrested for publicity
So let it Rock and Let it sex
The fetish in the Punk rock is left fo dead

At each others throat they couldn't trust themselves
No ones taking notes Tell it like it was
Someone takes a stab and no one makes a stand
Living in the flaws of an imperfect world

A fight for freedom freedom lost
We Die aloneRemember the cause
We die alone, So Die with a cause

We die alone, a Calling of the punks
We die alone, Because I still trust no one.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Die Alone" by U.S Bombs reflect on the decline of punk rock culture and how it represented non-conformity, freedom, and rebellion, but eventually fell apart due to mistrust, violence, and a lack of unity among its followers. The song's opening lines take us on a journey through London, specifically mentioning iconic places like Carnaby Street, Soho, and Kings Road, which were popular destinations for punk rockers in the 1970s. However, the singer starts to question what happened to these places and the punk culture they represented.

The second verse focuses on the conflicts within the punk rock scene, where even though it was supposed to represent freedom and rebellion, it ended up being not that different from the mainstream culture it was trying to rebel against. The mention of Malcolm McLaren, the infamous manager of the Sex Pistols, being arrested for publicity highlights how even the leaders of the punk movement were susceptible to selling out for fame and fortune. The line "The fetish in the Punk rock is left for dead" further emphasizes the song's theme of the decline of the punk rock culture and the loss of identity and purpose.

The chorus of the song, "Die Alone," is a reflection of the singer's belief that in the end, no matter how much one fights for a cause or a movement, we all end up dying alone. It suggests that the punk rockers' pursuit of freedom and rebellion was ultimately futile because they failed to cooperate and stand together. The lines "We Die alone, because I still trust no one" also betray a sense of bitterness and disillusionment within the singer.
