SLOW IT DOWN!!!
A certain amount of speed will give it feeling.
But, this fast and only one time
through makes it sound like
nothing but a race to the finish!
Play it like you mean it.
Not like you're late for something!
Love our Corps! Semper Fi!!!
Zach
This is the version they played on Fridays at 29 palms. Never heard it anywhere else while I was in. Amazing rendition, always gave me goosebumps with how over the top it was.
Leopirdas
Yup, every Friday Morning, still was going on when I was there Nov2021-May2022

Every Friday. I miss hearing that super colors version where they play this at max volume 😂

My son was laid to rest at Jefferson Baracks Cemetery in St. Louis.
He was a proud Marine.
I play this for him, and all those laid to rest here, every week when I come
out.

I like how despite the fact that they are the performers, the band stands for our hymn out of respect and tradition.
Semper Fidelis!
Angel
Rah! Everytime I hear the hymn I cry. I'm a proud Marine! Once a Marine forever A Marine! Semper Fidelis Brothers and Sisters!
Mark Reed
These are all active duty marines
Andy_in_NH
@Mark Reed Some of them may be active duty (the OIC and Drum Major in particular), and while many of the members of the "The President's Own" may in fact be on contract, they do not go to boot camp, they don't have a combat mission, the only unit they can be assigned to is the United States Marine Band (not the Division, Wing or, Base bands), and they are given (not earned) the rank of SSgt to start with. Their rank insignia does not have the crossed rifles, but instead a lyre.
