1. Vegan straight edge hardcore band from New England. Ultimatum is Cesar Gonzalez (vocals), Nick Birtles (drums), Trang Anh Le (bass), Harrison Sacco (guitar), and Evan Stein (guitar). Tommy Harte was also in the lineup for the first gig, playing bass, before quitting because he doesn’t fuckin’ know bass. They played their first show in December of 2021, and their second show in March of 2022, dropping a demo in November 2022. Stylistically, they are inspired by bands such as Throwdown and Black My Heart — heavy, moshable riffs with downtuned production with literate and intelligent lyrics that make reference to theorists such as Nick Land and Foucault, all while maintaining a straight edge theme. Members are also in notable bands such as Anklebiter, Broken Vow, Pummel, and Ill Comm.

3. Ultimatum were an influential hardcore punk band based in Melbourne, Australia.
Ultimatum formed in 1995 and were the first vegan straight-edge band in Australia. They appeared around the same time that Earth Crisis released the definitive record 'Destroy the Machines'.
Ultimatum were also one of the early Australian bands to introduce the modern 'new school' metal influenced form of hardcore to Australia. They were also recognised, not only for their vegan straight edge stance, but also for their emotional and politically charged lyrics.
They garnered a following around Australia, Asia and in Europe with the release of their first self titled EP in 1997, recorded by engineer Scott Harper.
Ultimatum's second EP was a split CD released on Melbourne based Trial and Error/Shock Records, with highly regarded and now defunct hardcore band Not for You. This release promptly sold out and is now a rare item.
During their time, Ultimatum performed with international bands H2O, Strife, Vision of Disorder, Sommerset and Australian bands Mindsnare, 28 Days, Vicious Circle and many others.
Ultimatum disbanded in 2000. Members of the band have gone on to perform in other outfits in various music genres. Some of these bands include Within Blood, Hitlist and Retired Poets League.

The Killing Fields
Ultimatum Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I play a little game, a game it's called GOD.
I'm a merciless killer in a doctor's facade.
Read a Holy Book, just the other day.
Said God breathed life into, into this little babe.
If but for the Rolls and the mortgage payment,
This life would not have to be, to be brutally ended.
Chorus:
This land will be judged because of abortion.
Help us to see the blood on our hands, bring down conviction upon our land.
Conscious is seared by the almighty dollar.
Now only the mother will have to live with this terror.
If only she knew what, what her baby died for,
She would not have allowed this life to be torn.
Our land is filled with moral distortion;
Our babies are dying from this evil corruption.
Hear the cry of our children to thee,
Lord forgive us for these, for these sins we plea.
(Chorus)
(Job 10:8-12, 31:15, Proverbs 17:6, 31:8, Psalms 127:3-5, 139:3-16 Jeremiah 1:5, 2 Chronicles 7:14)
The Killing Fields by Ultimatum is a powerful and thought-provoking song that touches on the sensitive topic of abortion. The lyrics illustrate the hypocrisy that exists when it comes to the value placed on human life; that it is only deemed sacred when it aligns with what people deem as an acceptable description. The singer creates a persona that plays a little game called GOD, where they are a merciless killer disguised as a doctor. The Holy Book is referenced, reminding listeners that God created life and breathed it into this little babe. However, the pursuit of earthly gains such as rolls and mortgage payments seems to have blinded people to the sanctity of life, leading to its brutal and premature end.
The chorus goes on to suggest that this land will face judgment because of abortion, and the cry of the children is for help to see the blood on our hands and bring conviction upon our land. The singer acknowledges that our consciousness is seared by the almighty dollar, and only the mother will have to live with the guilt and trauma of the abortion. The babies in this land are dying from moral corruption, a distortion that ultimately leads to this evil act. The plea is made for forgiveness for these sins as referenced by Bible verses in Job 10:8-12, 31:15, Proverbs 17:6, 31:8, Psalms 127:3-5, 139:3-16 Jeremiah 1:5, 2 Chronicles 7:14.
