Capitel V : Bergtatt
Ulver Lyrics

Pigen bad for sig
Det maatte ey hende hiælpe
Oc med det een nye Pige de røfvede
Foer med hende som de vilde
Oc ey som de skulde

Til der, hvor Skyggernes Huus hun saae
Saa kolde oc evigblaae

Fjeldet tog hende ind
Til sit haarde Graabergkind
Igien herskede Natten dend sorte
Oc nu er hun borte...

Hun skriger med sidste Pust aff siin Stemme
Een Epoche vi aldrig vil glemme
- Een forstened Krop

...Maanen er borte
Ocsaa Stiernerne ere sluknede

Hu! det regner og det blæs;
For langt nord i Fjellom
Djupt under Hellom
Der leikar det...

I've searched everywhere, among the darkest and most obscure metal websites, hours and hours, days, by lyric, by genre, by freaking covers, by members... And I've found some pretty awesome bands, but... Yeah, I've never found a single album or band like Ulver. They'll forever be my favourite band ever, with Nattens Madrigal, Bergtatt and Kveldssanger standing in my heart.

I know i been listening for them like 2 months straight, i know iam a new fan. But i think what destinguish them is they had that mystical folk lore psycholike style.
Along with genre switches, yea i also just like the Blackmetal times.

@Christopher Norris I agree about Morningrise and maybe Orchid. Somehow similar.

The three first releases by the Norwegian band Aeternus, has some similarites to early Ulver, although far more death metal inspired, they did use quite a bit of acoustic guitar on those first releases as interludes and such, which invokes some of the same atmosphere, but in their own unique way.

Opeth's Morningrise (although not BM) gives me same feelings as this album, especially Advent and Black Rose Immortal - have a listen if you haven't yet.

Borknagar? XD

One of my favorite black metal songs, the way the epic melody is used to convey strength and isolation along with the desperate drums and acoustic strumming manage to make the album cover feel like an actual place

I think Bergtatt is the best album of Ulver and all of their albums are masterpieces! <3
