The Truth
Ulver Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It is the two

They turn the pages
Of the same book

It means nothing to them

The pages turned by the one
Is turned back by the other

It is the truth

They know it by heart
By the nothing inside it

It is nothing inside it

The book is the heart of them
The book is the heart of them

Overall Meaning

The song 'The Truth' by the Norwegian experimental music group, Ulver, is a masterpiece that evokes deep emotions and thoughts when listened to. The first couple of lines of the song deal with the idea of two individuals turning the pages of the same book, but it means nothing to them. The lines depict the mundane nature of everyday life, where people go through the motions of life without really experiencing or engaging with it. The fact that they both turn the same pages back and forth emphasizes the lack of meaning in their actions.

The central theme of the song is 'truth' and how it is intrinsic and exists within oneself. The lines 'They know it by heart, by the nothing inside it, It is nothing inside it' convey that the truth is not something that can be searched for or found externally. It is not a tangible entity but exists deep within oneself. Therefore, the metaphorical comparison of the book to the heart of the individual illustrates the internal nature of the truth. Ulver is trying to show that truth is not absolute, but it is something that is unique to the individual.

Overall, 'The Truth' by Ulver is a thought-provoking song that makes us question the very nature of our existence and the way we perceive the world. It encourages us to look within ourselves to find the truth and meaning of our lives.

Ten utwór trzeba posłuchać 15.000 razy. Dosłownie. I później staje się hymnem do którego się wraca. Najpierw chaos potem ekstaza... Tak ja to czuję :)

@l0lum4d lol cult status is when an artist or a work of art is practically worshiped by small group of fans. On the other side of the spectrum you have the status: popular, or generally favorable among masses. first song ive heard of these guys. its different. ill have to look at some more of their songs before i form an opinion.
