The duo teamed up with local bassist Kenn Davis, Kentucky-native Brandon Sidebottom, and Russell Lee, former Deepfield drummer from Charleston, SC. With an in-your-face high-energy live show and a relentless touring ethic, Under The Flood is making their stamp in the rock industry. Their debut record The Witness was produced by Brian Craddock (Daughtry), mixed by Skidd Mills (Saliva, Saving Abel), and released worldwide by Koch Records in May 2008.

Open Me Up
Under The Flood Lyrics

With these eyes deceived and bring my mind into obscurity
Can't find that memory, awake in a dream
Please release my hand, it's not painful, smile
'Cause you open me up
You take what's inside
Never know how I feel about you
Trying to breathe, forgive and it just strangles me
Can't keep my head above your flood of insecurities
Watch the wrong frame, I need to get away, can I slip away?
It's not the same 'cause you're a fake, beautiful mistake
I'll never make the same mistake
'Cause you open me up
You take what's inside
Never know how I feel about you
Everything inside it turns blue, are you on my side?
I'm broken and desperate
You're lost and dead inside
You needed this to happen to satisfy denial
'Cause you open me up
You take what's inside
Never know how I feel about you
Everything inside it turns blue, are you on my side?
The lyrics of the song "Open Me Up" by Under The Flood revolve around the theme of emotional vulnerability and the struggle to open up to another person. The singer expresses his inability to see things clearly and remember important moments because of the confusion in his mind. He acknowledges that he needs the other person's help to open up and reveal what is inside him. He is scared to let go but pleads with the other person to release his hand and not be afraid of the possibility of pain.
The verse then transitions into a chorus with a powerful message. The singer feels that the other person has the power to understand and take what's inside him. The line "everything inside it turns blue" could indicate a feeling of sadness or depression. He questions if this person is on his side, showing his doubt in whether they truly understand what he is feeling. The second verse reveals that the relationship has become toxic and damaging for the singer. He feels he is drowning in the other person's insecurities and needs to get away. The bridge reveals that both the singer and the other person are broken and lost, but this relationship is not a healthy way to deal with those issues. The chorus repeats, indicating that even though the singer is hurt and confused, he still wants the other person to open him up and help him deal with his emotions.
