Ethereal/trip-hop band 'underwater' released several EPs and LPs, including the hugely successful, 'RED.' single and their greatest artistic success, 'This Is Not A Film'. Founding members Jeremy Wilkins and Melissa Mileski own international recording/publishing rights and usage of the name 'underwater'.
Other musicians, past and present, include George Lewis, Nikolas Ahlstam, Alec Irvin, Matthew Jeanes, Deborah Lutz, Daniel Rosen, Dan Dixon, and Denver Bon. In 1998, they recorded 'I Could Lose' with producer Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails). The band and producer got along very well, but unfortunately, the same could not be said of the band and their record label. So, after the band was released from it's contract, a remix single and new EP was released on Matt and Jeremy's budding sub:marine records. They are currently collaborating on new music, sending tracks back and forth across the country, but there is no official word regarding release dates.
Other musicians using this name:
1) Polish Trance artist Lukasz Stankiewicz, with releases on Conspiracy Recordings, most notable for the remix of Solar Stone - Eastern Sea.
2) The "punk/rock/surf/ska/rap/reggae/dub" band Underwater
3) The "heavy rock" band The Underwater
4) Electronic, downtempo artist "underwater", featured on One on Twoism Vol. 4

Underwater Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
maybe you were thinking this could not work no more
things you say to come and question my love
when we started out it was like hand and glove
now you want to come and question my love
when you know girl that I come from above
oh yeah, oh yeah
oh yeah, oh yeah
soon to find out that you will never learn
It's a shame to see you so sad
What a bummer it is you had to go and get mad
Oh you know I said I tried and I tried
tried to make you happy but all you did was lie
Oh you know I said I tried and I tried
tried to make you happy but you're never satisfied
oh yeah, oh yeah
oh yeah, oh yeah
you're starting a fire and it just won't burn
soon to find out that you will never learn
shes starting that fire
I'm feeling all the burn
that fire
she will never learn
The lyrics of Firestarter by Underwater revolve around a failing relationship that has been plagued by doubts and questions of love. The singer is addressing their partner, who seems to be on the brink of leaving the relationship, and pointing out their flaws in the relationship, as they feel the need to question their commitment to it. The singer reminisces about how they once fit together like "hand and glove," and how it seems that the relationship has taken a turn for the worse. The chorus implies that the partner is "starting a fire," which means they are causing problems that are hard to put out or resolve. The singer is frustrated and feels as though they have done everything they can to make the relationship work, but their efforts have been in vain.
The lyrics convey a sense of anxiety and fear on the part of the singer, who seems to be resigned to the possibility of their partner leaving. It's also possible that the singer is somewhat powerless in the face of the difficulties the couple is experiencing, as the partner is not willing to listen, learn or grow in their relationship. Overall, the message is that relationships are not always easy, and it takes effort and patience from both parties to make it work.
