Unit:187 (also known as Unit 187) was formed in Vancouver, Canada. Vancouver industrial scene influences such as Front Line Assembly and Skinny Puppy helped guide the band to write their first self titled studio album which was released by 21st Circuitry in 1995. In 1998, the band's second album Loaded, produced by Devin Townsend gained critical acclaim with several of the songs becoming international favorites on the industrial music charts. In 1999, 21st Circuitry Records collapsed, and left the band to find a new home for their music. In 2001, Unit:187 released Capital Punishment on their new label, COP International.

Relax, don't do it...
Relax don't do it...
When you want to come
Relax don't do it
Relax don't do it
(When you want to come)
Relax don't do it
(When you want to sock it to it)
Relax don't do it
When you want to come
Come
Relax don't do it
(When you want to go to it)
Relax don't do it
(When you want to come)
Relax don't do it
(When you want to sock it to it)
Relax don't do it
When you want to come
But shoot it in the right direction
You're making it your intention
Live those dreams, scheme those schemes
Got to hit me (hit me)
Hit me (hit me)
Hit me with your laser beams
Come
Relax...
Relax don't do it
(When you want to go to it)
Relax don't do it
(When you want to come)
Relax don't do it
(When you want to sock it to it)
Relax don't do it
When you want to come
Come...
The lyrics to Unit:187's song Relax can be interpreted in a variety of ways depending on the listener's perspective. One possible interpretation is that the song is a commentary on the pressure that society places on individuals to constantly perform and achieve, even when it may not be what they truly want.
The repeated phrase "Relax, don't do it" could be seen as a call to reject this pressure and instead take a more laid-back approach to life. However, the later lines about shooting "in the right direction" and living out one's dreams and schemes suggest that the song may also be urging listeners to pursue their goals with intention and focus.
The inclusion of the phrase "Hit me with your laser beams" adds a sci-fi element to the lyrics, perhaps suggesting that the pressure to perform is so intense that it feels like being targeted by a futuristic weapon.

Wow, holy shit, been looking out for any contact with anyone from unit:187 and now i can have some. I wanted to ask if the dilivery still works on the website or not and if there will be any sort of comeback or something. So, what is it?
Chris Peterson
@spark198rus Hey Spark198rus. I'm not sure about the delivery, but look to contact Johnny Morgan about that through the 187 email contact. There may well be some merch left still, I just don't run any of the web stuff and don't really know. I do know that I have at least 3 songs with Tod doing vox that I want to finish mixing, and there were many songs ideas in the works while he was ill that I wish to see the light of day in some form, some day. As for a comeback, I struggle to answer that one. Without Tod, it would not be the same. A tribute some day, yes, would love that.... RIP Tod Law.

Wow, the contrast in the A-B is thick, it really shows your super powers as a mix engineer. Just stunning. I need to find some duck tape to re-attach my jaw.

A few important considerations with the reference mix, as opposed to something like a "demo mix" or the like. It's meant as a reference to how all the parts line up for the engineer to know that if any of your single track bounces are all lined up properly in his session and on a diferent platform. Sometimes after a long day, mistakes can be made and a track can be a bar off or what have you, when you prepare the files. It's happened..lol... also, when you're sending a track to a master craftsman like Ken, you want to leave him a lot of freedom to work with and not send him something with a bunch of effects and production work that he can do so much better. That's the point, right? :-)
Honestly, when you send a song to Ken, it's better than X-mas when you get the result back. There are a lot of good engineers, but nobody gives you those surprises and easter eggs with the buy in that Ken does.

I love what you did with the vocals. I'm going to have to give that a shot. Sounds ominous and foreboding. And adds depth of course. :)
