Holiday
Unwritten Law Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sometimes life can knock you down
Just gotta pick your ass up off the ground
Probably don't matter anyway
Cause in the end it's gonna be ok
Because life's a holiday

Don't want to go and work harder
Just to keep my head above water
Can't hear what teacher's trying to say
'cause it makes no sense now anyway
And tomorrow's another day
And I just want to play
Cause I know that we'll be OK
Cause life's a holiday

I'm sorry
For my, my blasphemy
It's just my way

And I'll stay
Because life's a holiday

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Unwritten Law's song "Holiday" encourage people to face life's challenges with a positive outlook. The song compares the ups and downs of life to a holiday, urging people to enjoy the present and look forward to a better tomorrow.

The first verse acknowledges that life can be tough at times, but the key is to get back up and keep going. Regardless of the difficulties, everything will be alright eventually. The chorus emphasizes that life is short and meant to be enjoyed. The societal pressure to work tirelessly to make ends meet or getting good grades seems pointless when life can be compared to a holiday.

The final verse includes an apology for any perceived sacrilege, acknowledging that the positive outlook on life may be unconventional. However, embracing life as a holiday, staying in the moment, and refusing to give in to negative thoughts will make everything okay, as the song concludes on an upbeat, "life's a holiday" note.

Overall, "Holiday" is an optimistic and uplifting song that reminds listeners to find joy in every moment, even during the tough times.

I don't really understand how people don't like this song. This is back when Unwritten Law was punk, and it's tough to find a punk song that's not someone complaining about their life or some crap. This is good stuff!
