Seein' Red
Unwritten Law Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm seein' red
Don't think you'll have to see my face again
Don't have much time for sympathy
Cause it never happened to me
You're feelin' blue now
I think you bit off more than you could chew
And now it's time to make a choice
And all I wanna hear is your

So follow the leader down
And swallow your pride and drown
When there's no place left to go
Maybe that's when you will know
Follow the leader down
And swallow your pride and drown
When there's no place left to go
Maybe that's when you will know

And foolish lies
Well can't you see I tried to compromise
Cause what you say ain't always true
And I can see the tears in your eyes
And what you said now
Can't stop the words from running through my head
And what I'd do to get through to you
But you'd only do it again

So follow the leader down
And swallow your pride and drown
When there's no place left to go
Maybe that's when you will know
Follow the leader down
And swallow your pride and drown
When there's no place left to go
Maybe that's when you will know

Well I can confess, I don't know what to make from all this mess
Don't have much time for sympathy
But it never happened to me, you're feelin' down now
I don't know where I'll be when you come around

And now it's time to make a choice
And all I wanna hear is your voice

Overall Meaning

The song "Seein' Red" by Unwritten Law speaks about a broken relationship between two people. The singer is seeing red, which could indicate feelings of anger, betrayal, or frustration. The singer no longer wants to see the other person's face, and they have little sympathy for them. To the singer, it feels like the other person has brought their problems upon themselves and now needs to make a choice. The singer pleads with the other person to follow their lead and make the difficult decision to swallow their pride and drown, which could mean admitting fault, apologizing, or accepting the end of the relationship. The singer is also aware of the other person's lies and attempts at manipulation, but still wants to make things work.

Throughout the song, the singer oscillates between anger and desire for reconciliation. They try to compromise, but also acknowledge that the other person might repeat their harmful behavior. Ultimately, the song is a call for the other person to take responsibility, make a choice, and communicate with the singer.

I have worked with this band multiples times as main stage security... The lead singer was always stumbling blind drunk and drugged before the show.... To the point where you wonder if he was just going to pass out in the restroom. And every single time he went out there and absolutely smashed it. They are simply awesome live in ---in-the-right venue. And their drummer is fantastic.

It happens man. I know some bad ass musicians that can pull shit off and people never would have a clue. I am a recovering addict/alcoholic and I would do things all the time and people never even knew I was messed up at all.

Be kind.

Hahaha. What a back handed comment. No need to attack him as a person and then praise him as an artist. Big ol yikes for you.
