As I reminisce about my upbringing on the west side, I wonder what the future holds.

Grew up on seven second, moved up to 87
I grew up in a particular neighborhood and later moved to another area of the city.

We rep that city where we saw the smoke on 911
I come from the city where the tragedy of 911 happened.

Just kids in second grade, or maybe third it was
During our early childhood, we witnessed the severity of the world's harsh realities.

But either way that day we really saw murder was
The events of that day opened our eyes to the concept of death and loss.

You haven't heard of us? This city I reside
Despite our humble beginnings, my city and I have been making moves.

Grew up on fields of grass and gravel down on riverside
I grew up in a neighborhood close to a river and often played in outdoor areas with grass and rocks.

That's where I learned to dream, on top that rock I'd sing
The scenic surroundings allowed me to explore my creativity and imagination.

I told my dad one day that I'd grow up to be a king!
From a young age, I had ambitions and aspirations for my future.

I said I'm living now, cuz we all die later
I am making the most of my life right now because tomorrow is not guaranteed.

Hey dad look up one day you'll see me on that skyscraper
I aim to achieve great things and make my family proud.

See I was 6 years old, I learned to tie my laces
I grew up learning basic life skills, such as tying my shoes.

So I could walk my citys streets and see the different faces
I enjoyed walking around my city and observing its diverse population.

Made up of every color, mixed in with every race
My city is a melting pot of cultures and ethnicities.

No matter where I am in life I won't forget this place
My upbringing on the west side had a significant impact on my life and I will always remember it.

Where people grow up fast, this teenage dream is different
Life moves quickly in the city and growing up is a unique experience.

Cuz kids will tell you that they hear you but they never listen
People may pretend to listen, but it doesn't mean they will take your advice or guidance.

I rep that west end, I see that hudson river
I represent the west side of the city and admire the view of the Hudson River.

That murky water lookin perfect with the stat of liber-Tee
Despite the less-than-ideal environmental conditions, I find beauty in the sight of the Statue of Liberty.

That's the nyc, east or west or battery
This is what New York City is all about, whether it's the east or west side, or even Battery Park.

Man that's where I have to be just hop up on that 2 or 3
I feel at home in this city and can easily travel around on the subway lines.

Express to soho, man I love that downtown
I enjoy taking the express subway line to Soho and exploring the downtown area.

Just like a yoyo, when I leave I'll just come back around
Even if I leave, I know I will always return to my home on the west side.

These are my stompin grounds, and they will be always
The west side is where I grew up and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

This city made me just exactly what I am today
My experiences living in this city helped shape me into the person I am today.

I said I'm from the west! Side of this busy city
I proudly represent the west side of the city.

Where people never rest, stay focused on the pretty
The residents of the west side are always striving for success and chasing their dreams.

Lights of the skyline, I tread the highline, the seconds fly by in theny, that's NY time
As I walk along the High Line, I am reminded of the beauty of the city skyline, and how time seems to fly by in this bustling place.

I feel it in the air with every single breath I take
There is something special about the energy and atmosphere of the city that I can feel in every breath I take.

These streets are under me with every single step I make
I am reminded of the city's vibrancy and history with every step I take on its streets.

I said for heavens sake, just take us back one day
Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and relive certain moments of my life.

Whether in spirit, souls, or dreams, make it happen some way
I hope to continue pursuing my dreams, whether in the physical world or through memories and aspirations.

Back against the grass we're staring at the summer night
I recall particular moments in my past where I lay in the grass and gazed at the stars at night.

Baby just relax and let this moment come to life
Sometimes it's important to simply relax and let life unfold naturally.

I'm lookin straight up from the lawn, I'm gone, and feel the rush
Staring up at the stars and the vastness of the universe is an exhilarating experience.

Could never see a star but I know this citys filled with us
Even though the city's bright lights and buildings may obscure the stars, I know that its inhabitants shine just as bright.

I am forever grateful, for all you've given me
I am thankful for all of the opportunities and experiences that this city has provided me with.

These Endless possibilities so now I'm livin free
There are countless opportunities for success and growth in this city, which has allowed me to live my life freely.

And even when I thought this city had no sympathy
At times, this city can be harsh and unforgiving, but I have learned to find the beauty and positivity in it.

I saw that every days a treat and every nights a symphony
Despite its challenges, every day and night in this city is full of interesting and exciting experiences.

I swear I love this sound, these lights this air this ground
I am in awe of the sounds, lights, air, and ground of this city, which all contribute to its unique character.

That's why I say it proud when people ask of my hometown
I take pride in representing this city and sharing my experiences with others.

No matter where we go from here or where we may reside
Regardless of where life takes us in the future, we will always be connected to our past experiences on the west side.

Just know that all our stories started on the west side!
The west side is where our stories began and it will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
