1) Urban Voodoo was a short-lived industrial rock band, consisting of vocalist "Kami" (Kamary Phillips) and guitarist/bassist "Burn" (Bernhard Locker); musical border crossers who were constantly searching for the next millenium's sounds. On that mission they developed their own style, a mix of industrial noises, ethnic sounds and hip hop grooves. The duo released the album Elegant Friction, as well as the single The Chartist's Soul in 1997 on the German record label Marlboro Music. That same year the band received wide exposure and increased interest from the inclusion of their track "Brutality" on the official soundtrack for the film Mortal Kombat Annihilation. However the band silently disbanded shortly after and in 1999, Locker performed guest guitarwork on Hednoize's debut album, on the song Army of One.
Since the demise of Urban Voodoo in the late 90s, Phillips has continued with a solo career whilst Locker has continued work with Hednoize frontman Brent Daniels, performing both guitar and remix-work on Daniels' title-track solo single written for the soundtrack to the film, A Lonely Place For Dying.
2) Urban Voodoo is also one of the many monikers of the techno/trance artist and producer, Fred Baker (born Frédéric De Backer) whose most widely known release is the dance single, Humanity.

There are some things you can never see
I know that you, you adore me
But you're killing me so softly
This brutality
Now the tear inside me
This bright light, life and excitement
I'm being burned by the flame it feels
This brutality
This brutality
This brutality
This brutality
I'm skinned all over
Splitting at the seams like bleeding gums
This folic acid
Oozes out of me like poison cum
It's finally behind me
There are some wounds that will never heal
If my destiny comes to haunt me
It leaves a scar I can't conceive
Brutality
This brutality
This brutality
This brutality
I'm skinned all over
Splitting at the seams like bleeding gums
This folic acid
Oozes out of me like poison cum
Brutality sleeps inside me
There are some things you can never see
I know that you, you adore me
But you're killing me so softly
With this brutality

The lyrics of Urban Voodoo's song "Brutality" explore the theme of emotional pain caused by a loved one. The singer acknowledges that even when something is right in front of us, there are still some things that we cannot see. The person they are addressing loves them, but is causing them pain in a subtle way, like a slow poison. The phrase "killing me so softly" is a powerful metaphor that speaks to the way that emotional pain can be just as lethal as physical pain.
The second verse takes on a more intense tone, as the singer describes feeling like their skin is being ripped apart and bleeding. The mention of "poison cum" is a vulgar yet visceral way to describe the toxic nature of the situation. The bright light and excitement they describe in the first verse now feels like a flame that is burning them, leaving them feeling scarred and wounded.
In the chorus, the repetition of the phrase "This brutality" emphasizes the intensity and inescapability of the situation. The final verse brings a bit of hope, as the singer suggests that the pain may be behind them, but acknowledges that some wounds never fully heal.
Overall, the song captures the complexity of relationships and how they can bring both light and darkness into our lives. It highlights the pain caused by emotional abuse or neglect and the struggle to heal from that pain.

@kretekkretek
anytime I am completely and utterly void of nostalgia, I put this on and the memories flow back to me like im re-living it. thumbs up if you started with this album as a young child and still listened to it as a teenager when youd come home after your first kisses or nights out with your friends and you felt so alive. this album raised me, all i need is to have a drink and put this on and those memories are so alive still
