Urgehal's song Satanic Black Metal in Hell speaks of the inevitability of death and the powerlessness of humans in the face of it. The lyrics portray the idea that we are all already dead in some sense, even before the physical process of dying takes place. The imagery of being "stripped from joy, stripped from life" and being "embraced by nothing... only death" represents the bleak and despairing outlook that many black metal bands have towards life. The lyrics suggest that any pleasures or miseries in life are fleeting and ultimately meaningless, as we will all end up as fuel for the flames of hell. The reaper is depicted as a sinister figure who collects and counts the dead, inevitably leading them to their final destination in hell.
The second half of the lyrics take on a more violent and aggressive tone, with the imagery of "infernal soldiers demonized" and "fucked up angels sodomized". Even the armies of hell are corrupt and twisted, reflecting the evil nature of their prince.
