Uriah Heep Lyrics

Tuesday's dream
Dancing in my head
For you'd have heard
A thousand words
That nobody had said
And you'd have
Watched me try to run
Never strayed
Heard my cries because
I know I really was afraid
Dreams, dreams
I'll never keep
My body rests
But my eyes refuse to sleep
Sights and sounds
My mind created
Far beyond the thoughts
Of which we speak
And then we danced
On silver wings
Upon a gilded thread
I heard the song the angel sings
To bless my lowered head
And at the door of paradise
My best laid plan begun
But as I turned to reach for you
My colored night, it was gone
In Uriah Heep's song "Dream On," the lead singer describes a vivid dream he had on a Tuesday night. In the dream, he experienced a world far beyond what we know and said it couldn't be expressed through regular communication. He was afraid and tried to run, but realized he couldn't escape the new world he found himself in. Then, he met an angel and danced with them on silver wings. The singer felt blessed, and his plan to stay in this new world began, but when he turned to reach for a loved one, the dream ended - leaving him with nothing but the memory of a fleeting moment.
The lyrics of "Dream On" represent a common theme in human experience - the desire to escape from the mundanity of everyday life and find something more fulfilling. It's a deeply personal song about the need to seek out more than what appears to be present in our daily lives. It represents a wish to stretch beyond the confines of our own minds and explore new possibilities. However, it also suggests the limitations of this kind of creativity, as the singer tries to take a loved one with him and unsuccessfully attempts to hold onto the dream.

You should have seen
If only you had witnessed
Tuesday's dream
The dream I had on Tuesday
Dancing in my head
That was playing in my mind
For you'd have heard
Then you would have heard
A thousand words
So many words
That nobody had said
That remained unspoken
And you'd have
Moreover
Watched me try to run
You would have seen me attempt to escape
Where dreams have
In a place where dreams never
Never strayed
Ventured off course
Heard my cries because
Because you could hear my cries
I know I really was afraid
And I knew that I was truly afraid
Dreams, dreams
Dreams, oh dreams
I'll never keep
That I'll never hold onto
My body rests
Even though my body is at rest
But my eyes refuse to sleep
My eyes will not close
Sights and sounds
Images and noises
My mind created
That my mind formed
Far beyond the thoughts
So beyond mere ideas
Of which we speak
That we can put into words
And then we danced
Then, we danced
On silver wings
Taking flight on shining wings
Upon a gilded thread
Along a golden line
I heard the song the angel sings
I listened to the melody sung by the angel
To bless my lowered head
That blessed my bowed head
And at the door of paradise
At the threshold of heaven
My best laid plan begun
My well-thought-out plan began
But as I turned to reach for you
However, as I looked for you
My colored night, it was gone
My colorful night had vanished
