Fallen Angel
Uriah Heep Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Everyone I see reminds me of you
I keep turnin' round
Expectin' you to be there
I keep seein' our past
Through my looking glass
But fallen angel
After all these years
I remember the tears
When we parted you said
Don't forget me
You were ridin' so high
Now they're passin' you by
Girl I've never forgot you
Please come and get me
Livin' without you is
Hard enough anyway
But knowin' you're hurtin'
Makes it so much worse every day
I just wanna love you
Any way that I can
And watching you cry wasn't
Part of my plan
Tell me how did it feel
In your promised land
That you chose as
Your pain and your pleasure
A temporary sanctuary
Oh fallen angel
I'm your real treasure
The song "Fallen Angel" by Uriah Heep is a soulful and melancholic piece that is about longing for a lost love. The singer of the song is still haunted by the memories of their past relationship and is constantly looking for his "fallen angel". He continues to see reminders of her everywhere he goes, but she is nowhere to be found. As the years go by, he continues to remember the tears shed during their breakup and the promise she made to never forget him. However, things have changed, and now she's no longer at the top of her game, but has fallen from grace.
The singer is still in love with her and is willing to do anything to support her. He is aware of the pain that she must be suffering, and this knowledge makes it hard for him to continue with his life without her. He misses her terribly and believes that he is her "real treasure" but she has sought refuge elsewhere. He begs for her to come back to him and offers to love her in any way he can. He's aware that seeing her cry was not part of the plan, but he can't help but wonder how it feels to be in her promised land in pain and pleasure.
Interpretation of the song depends on the listener's experience, but he could be describing a love that was so pure and powerful that he still wish for it to be alive. He feels the emptiness of a life lived without her and knows that he can only be happy if she comes back to him.
