In 1990 Usher joined an R&B local quintet called the NuBeginnings, which was organized by local music svengali, Darryl Wheeler and then he decided to pursue a career in music. Aside from recording, Usher has ventured into business. He has established his own record label, US Records, and is a part owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers franchise. He has also dabbled in acting, with a recurring role on the teen sitcom Moesha, and roles in the films The Faculty (1998, with Josh Harnett) She's All That (1999, with Freddie Prinze, Jr.) and Texas Rangers (2001, with Ashton Kutcher).

Oh, oh, oh, T-T-P
Somebody tell me
Why do people stay in situations that'll never work?
And 'bout you wanna leave and you can't wait to get even
But deep inside, it really hurts
You never should've ever got in the mix
All the right things to say, the wrong things to do
Why you out and trying to pick and choose?
You should be looking for a T.T.P
Now that I know the difference, that's all I'm trying to be with
Somebody that keeps it all in together now
I'm living better since I found the total package
You should be looking for a T.T.P
Now that I know the difference, that's all I'm trying to be with
Somebody that keeps it all in together now
I'm living better since I found the total package
I used to be young and dumb and always wanted to run
In the streets 'cause I thought that was where it was at
But it wasn't, all it did was leave a brother in the cold
With nowhere to go
I caught myself slipping, thinking I was the lick
I was tripping, trying to jump dip to dip
I thought it was the way to be happy
Until somebody took time to tell me
You should be looking for a T.T.P
Now that I know the difference, that's all I'm trying to be with
Somebody that keeps it all in together now
I'm living better since I found the total package
You should be looking for a T.T.P
Now that I know the difference, that's all I'm trying to be with
Somebody that keeps it all in together now
I'm living better since I found the total package
So many people think they got it, but they don't have a clue
You gotta have more than just a body for me to be talking about you
Take it from me, when playing the game, your day will come
When you gotta stop what you doing, start looking for the one
Don't stop
Keep looking, fellas
Don't stop
You got to get it, get it
All and together now
Keep looking, fellas
Don't stop
You got to get it, get it
Don't stop
Keep looking, fellas
Don't stop (trying to be with somebody that keeps it)
Don't stop
Keep looking, fellas
Don't stop
You should be looking for a T.T.P
Now that I know the difference, that's all I'm trying to be with
Somebody that keeps it all in together now
I'm living better since I found the total package
You should be looking for a T.T.P
Now that I know the difference, that's all I'm trying to be with
Somebody that keeps it all in together now
I'm living better since I found the total package
You should be looking for a T.T.P
Now that I know the difference, that's all I'm trying to be with
Somebody that keeps it all in together now
I'm living better since I found the total package
You should be looking for a T.T.P
Now that I know the difference, that's all I'm trying to be with

Somebody that keeps it all in together now
In Usher's song T.T.P., Usher explores the concept of finding the "total package" in a partner, also known as a T.T.P. The song's chorus repeats the acronym T.T.P. several times, with Usher encouraging listeners to seek out someone who is the complete package and can keep it all together. He questions why people stay in situations that don't work, even though they want to leave, and emphasizes the importance of finding someone who understands you and supports you through thick and thin.
In the second verse, Usher reminisces about his own experience of being young and foolish, running around in the streets, and thinking that was where he would find happiness. He realized too late that he was mistaken, and he urges others not to make the same mistake he did. Usher emphasizes that finding a T.T.P. requires more than just physical attraction and encourages his listeners to keep looking until they find someone who is truly the complete package.
Throughout the song, Usher intersperses calls to action, urging his listeners not to give up on finding a T.T.P. and to keep looking for someone who can keep it all together. He emphasizes that finding the right partner can make a huge difference in one's life and can elevate them to a happier, more fulfilling place.
